A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Cam Degreeing or not

In my opinion it's pretty pointless to ask how just bolting on has worked for someone else. The catch is that there seems to be huge tolerances in stock factory timing. I mean up to 10 degrees or so. So even if just bolting on has worked perfectly for someone there is no guarantee that your...

    Degree the cams?

Regarding question if it's worth of effort for stock(ish) street bike. Well, you never know... I would say that moving the cam timing from stock values to something else probably won't provide huge improvement. But there is one catch. At least my experience is that stock timing can be quite...

    Fuel Injection System

Not sure what you were exactly asking? :) Generally building a fuel injection system is the same process than any other bigger upgrade project. Decide what are your goals, what are existing parts in the engine, how much money you want to spend and so on. Then figure out what you will need to...

    Early 80's GS1100 Project Questions

I think this depends on definition of "bolt in". :) Like you said some some custom stuff will be needed with the engine mounts. But on the other hand the frame shouldn't need any modifications so in that sense it's pretty much "bolt in".

    Ignition Timing Theory

I think RPM range is the key factor here. Peak torque and power on the GS engine are at much higher RPM compared to Chevy V8 so it needs more timing there since time available for burn process is shorter. And since ports and valve timing are optimized for high RPM cylinder filling and mixture...

XR 41 replica versus Mocca Racer

Just make sure that your regulator is working properly. Lithium batteries die very quickly when overcharged. And I assume you are talking about LiFePo4 battery, not actual Lithium Ion? That's a small but pretty important detail. LiFePo4 batteries are compatible with charging systems that are...

    oil cooler help

Agree. I haven't tried this by myself but even in theory the R/R can't make any significant change to oil temp. Based on generator output power maximum amount of heat that the stator can generate is around 300W. And that's in case where all generator power is burnt to heat in stator windings...

    O2 Sensor Location

It doesn't need point exactly downwards. Anything between 9 and 3 o'clock should be fine. It would be good to get it as far as possible from tailpipe exit. Otherwise there might be reversing fresh air getting to sensor at low revs.

    Turbo Kits GS1150

I have never installed a full kit from them but have played with their stuff quite a lot otherwise, tuned other's bikes with their parts etc. I have an exhaust manifold from them on my GS as well. Their kits are quite popular here in Finland. In nutshell I would say that their kits are quite...

    Oil pickup mods

Yep, it's balancing between accelerating and braking. The stock pickup will suck air during hard acceleration, probably even with stock engine. The stock oil light pressure switch is quite forgiving so you won't notice short pressure drops. On my turbo engine I have a deepened oil pan and the...

    Rocker arm nut size changes

I also noticed that size change when I bought some new rockers. I'm using mixed set now and haven't noticed any problems except that tiny extra annoyance when adjusting the valves. In theory the smaller nut saves weight exactly on the right place but I think difference is so small that you...

    gs1150 engine question and suggestion

Few random comments about your list: -Manual cam chain tensioner has it's pros and cons. It provides some extra reliability if you have stiff valve springs, aggressive cam and if you like to rev the engine to red line. On the other hand you have to adjust it correctly and check adjustment every...

Best source for offset countershaft sprockets?

XAM Japan: http://xam-japan.co.jp/en/sprocket5.html I'm not sure how competitive their prices are at the moment but quality is top class based on my experiences.

    pistons hitting headgasket

Might work, can't say for sure as I don't have a clear idea about that tool. I would probably try with die grinder and flap wheel or carbide bit.
