A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

? That Best Seat Covers, Where??

I replaced the seat cover with a Saddleman by Travelcade just like described on Cliff's website. It looks just like the original. Went on without too much cursing. Looks great and I would buy from them again. Cost was about $60 Bigbri

    18" wheel for shaft drive?

Thanks Mr. Monk, 3 or 4 hundred rpm reduction takes the edge off the engine noise on a long ride. Bigbri

    18" wheel for shaft drive?

mr. nessism, My 850 sounds good at 5000 rpm but I would like a reduction as well. I picked up a tired GS1000G for better high speed cruising. More cc's = more fun. I am hoping to have it ready for spring. Too cold in my garage to put in many hours. How much reduction in rpm did you...

Oil leaks @ head gasket & cyl base

I have a '79 850 that has started to leak oil from the head gasket joint. It has become bad enough to leave a oil trail on both sides of the engine after a 2 hour ride. Yesterday it left a small oil spot on my driveway. I am ordering gaskets this week. Mine on has about 1000 miles on since I...

    carb boot removal

What about a place to plug in an 110V air compressor? I would be willing to come to you with the compressor and impact and hammer them out. I thought about you when I did mine and didn't have room to swing the hammer. The dremel is used to cut a slot for a straight bladed screwdriver or cut the...

Do you have access to an air compressor to use a air impact? I was able to use a 3/8" air impact on my 850. BigBri

    Cylinder head temp

I have been measuring the temp on my '79 850 with VM carbs at the base of the #1 and #4 plugs after fairly long rides. I felt that comparing those two plugs would give the most accurate readings. #1 is running at an average of 257 Degrees F and #4 is averaging 286 and the plugs reflect that...

    Vetter fairing bracket

The upper part of the bracket had 2 U-bolts and 2 metal piece about (1 in" sq curved to match the inside of the frame) to protect the bike frame from being dented by an over tightening of the U-bolt. The lower part used 2 worm clamps on each tube. I checked the Vetter web site I didn't see...
