A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

GS300L starts and idles but bogs with throttle

I see. That's cool. I've never been to Oklahoma before. Do you get a lot of tornadoes there in your area? My neighbor took the bike out for a ride yesterday! I couldn't believe it. I didn't think he would. He just went up and down the street a little bit. He said it started right up and...

GS300L starts and idles but bogs with throttle

Haha! Actually we did get some warmer weather today. It got up to 45 degrees today. But now the roads are all nasty and wet with salt, etc. I don't think my neighbor will want to take his bike out in that crap. We'll take it out for a spin as soon as the roads are decent for sure. I've...

GS300L starts and idles but bogs with throttle

Geez you guys haha! I can't just unfix it to find the problem haha! It's winter here in Michigan, snow and ice on the road, so no we have not ridden it and don't plan to until the roads are dry. We'll see how it runs once the weather is warmer and roads are dry again. Might need some fine...

GS300L starts and idles but bogs with throttle

My neighbor called me last night and said he went out and started the bike, let it warm up for a minute, then attempted to rev it up, and it ran perfect! No clue what happened or why it suddenly runs better. Only thing I can think of is maybe some sediment from the tank got into the carbs at...

GS300L starts and idles but bogs with throttle

How can the pilot circuit be causing the problems though? It starts and idles great. The bike runs on the pilot/idle circuit while idling, which is does great. It seems like the problem is the transition from idle to part throttle, as in the needle, or slides not rising, etc. Isn't that the...

GS300L starts and idles but bogs with throttle

That's the thing, I don't know what they used. My neighbor had two other guys trying to help him with the carbs before I got to them. One guy put in a rebuild kit and some new needles/seats. Another guy put in new diaphragms. I'm not sure what parts they put in there. The jets were all...

GS300L starts and idles but bogs with throttle

I thought that as well. But it idled great either way. You can shut it off and it fires right back up and will idle all day long nice and smooth. As soon as you crack the throttle a little too much though it starts running all stupid. Sounds like it wants more fuel but it's just not getting...

GS300L starts and idles but bogs with throttle

Helping my neighbor with his 1985 Suzuki GS300L. It’s a nice clean bike. Only 3600 miles. It sat for many years and wouldn’t start. We pulled the carbs off and cleaned them, replaced the needle and seat assemblies, pilot jets, and put new diaphragms on the slides. Float level was...

    First road bike - 1982 GS550L

I tried adjusting my fuel screws the other day. I found they were all set at about 2 1/4 turn out. I turned them out to 2 3/4 turn out and the bike seemed to run better. Idled better and more steady, no more delayed drop in RPM at idle, and seemed to run smoother going down the road while...

    First road bike - 1982 GS550L

It's a nice looking bike for sure! I just took mine out again for a ride yesterday. I put another set of new bars on the bike. These I really like. Much more comfortable than the other bars I installed. Just did a short 25 mile ride around near my home on some country roads. It started and...

    First road bike - 1982 GS550L

Good idea on the air leaks. Typically with air leaks I've had issues with idling and hanging idles, etc. This bike doesn't really seem to do that at all. It idles nicely and comes back down to idle after letting off the throttle. Regardless, I'll keep that in mind and look it over. I have...

    First road bike - 1982 GS550L

I worked a 15 hour day that day when we were talking on here. I was just taking mental breaks checking the forum. My brain was shot. Whenever I get the carbs off and apart I'll reread that tutorial again.

    First road bike - 1982 GS550L

Ok I was looking in the back of that file like you said. It's further up. Why can't you just put shims in there rather than sand down the original part? I guess either way would work.

    Already looked. Didn't see it.

    First road bike - 1982 GS550L

I didn't see anything about lifting the needle in the back of that file. Just stuff about the pilot fuel screws. Before that there's stuff about syncing the carbs.
