A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    MAC 2:1 exhaust for 1980+ GS450 - will it fit 77-79 GS400/425's?

Yeah I actually picked up one of those used as well as another junkyard exhaust of unknown manufacturer that was on I believe a GS 250 twin, which also works. It had some generic universal muffler welded to it that I'd cut off to graft a kirker mid-pipe and muffler can onto I've been eyeing...

    GS500 electronic ignition into GS400/425?

I heard back from C5 Optical Trigger ignitions, who previously had GS400/425 & GS 4-cylinder ignitions available. I wrote: Do you still offer the optical trigger ignitions for Suzuki GS motorcycles? I'd really like to find a good alternative to the Dyna-S ignitions, which occasionally seem...

    Brake Rotor Compatibility

Thanks for posting that! I'd long been wondering how I could possibly resurface rotors myself, as cutting with a tool steel bit in the lathe would not leave a consistent finish across the outer to inner diameter due to the varying surface speeds based on the diameter changing, a surface grinder...

    GS1100G pistons

One thing to consider is that the 1100 stroke is longer, so when reading the compression ratio on a pair of GS1000 pistons for use on a GS 1100, the compression when used on the 1100 will be higher I believe, as you have the added stroke change figured in. There is also a difference in deck...

2025 AMA Vintage Days at Mid Ohio (Lexington OH)

I go every single year for the past 11 or 13 years now! Norm, I haven't ran into you there for a while! It's likely there could be some old GSXR's there for sale, but no guarantees! I know where there are several sitting in a warehouse an hour from the event. Next time I go over there to help...

    GS500 electronic ignition into GS400/425?

I haven't found any info from searching, but I was curious if a late model GS500 electronic ignition would swap into a GS400/425 crankcase? I have read that although it is not a listed fitment, the Dyna s for the 400/425 will work on a GS 450 1980 - 1983 with the mechanical advancer assembly...

    GS400/500 Gr650 Hybrid engine

Wow, very interesting and awesome news for those wanting to build a maxed out big bore 400/425! This also could mean the potential of running GS1000/1100G pistons in a big bore GS400... I'd be very interested in the GR650 pistons and head, but am concerned about the modifications needed to the...

GS750B won't downshift when hot. Oil, springs, swell, shift forks?

This may be a different issue, as it still persists after engine is shut off. I've noticed that most issues with finding neutral when running (but not a problem as soon as engine is off) are notched basket or warped clutch plates etc. This really requires the engine to cool off for a while to...

GS750B won't downshift when hot. Oil, springs, swell, shift forks?

I've had this problem once before in recent years on long yaul road trips. Replaced the still-in-spec EBC clutch friction discs with some original OEM well used discs, didn't experience it again. Fast forward 2 - 3 years, haven't done anything but 200-400 mile twisty road rides in that time due...

    GS Big Valve head

Oh no!!!! I missed this news My condolences to Jay's family. What an incredible guy. He built up quite a business and reputation from the earliest days of Japanese 4 cylinder superbikes....wow. Thank you for alerting me to the sad news.

    GS Big Valve head

Big Jay I'm also wondering if you could get some custom JE Pistons made in 73mm & fit some GS450 sleeves (71mm stock bore) or GS1000 sleeves (70mm stock bore) into the GS425 jugs? I also have 2 of my 4 original MTC 72mm 920cc GS750 pistons, but unfortunately they ended up accidentally sitting...

    GS Big Valve head

Big Jay are you still doing these big valve GS400/425 heads? Rapid Ray is no longer on this forum apparently, so my choice of who to hire the head work out to is you... After riding primarily just 2-stroke woods bikes for the past 4+ years, I'm really wanting to build up my 400 parts pile i to...

    The GSResources 2024 Balance Sheet

Thanks for the reminder! I just donated, but was in a hurry and forgot to even look for a place to type my username... No biggie, but if you have the time to add me to the list, that'd be appreciated. I already show as a past supporter. Thanks for keeping this resource alive!

    GS400/500 Gr650 Hybrid engine

I'm still sitting on my stock GS425, but have since gotten a $300 GS400 frame, more engines, and crates full of parts. Although I'm likely to first build it as a 449cc with Wiseco K844 pistons and re-degreed GR650 cams or perhaps GS850 70mm +1.00mm oversized pistons for 462cc or 467cc if I...

    GS400/500 Gr650 Hybrid engine

I was immediately thinking the GS500 plain bearing crank was a solid 1 piece crank, so yes, that's not going to work. The easy route is to use a GS450 bottom end with GS500 cylinder barrel and a custom aluminum base gasket spacer and 2 base gaskets (1 on each side) from what I recall...
