    A note to new registrants...
All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Gloves ..... Cold wind blowing up old leather jacket sleeve

Another one for gauntlets. I've got a pair of reverse sheepskin military DR gauntlets from the 70s that are so thick you can hardly bend the fingers. Not exactly the pinnacle of style but... toasty...

    Emgo air filter vs. OEM

Those air filters are fine. Not that I've changed them often but they work and don't muck up your carburation.

    gs550 gs850 front forks interchangeable?

The later 550s had different calipers and I doubt they'd match but don't know for sure. Calipers from an 850 (not the GL though, with leading axle) will plug and play on an 8 valve 550.

    gs550 gs850 front forks interchangeable?

No they're not. The 550 are 35mm diameter and the 850 37mm (unless you're on about the later 83-86 550 which is 37mm as well)

GS1000 1979 UK wiring look questions

Yes. Take a look at: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-Suzuki-NOS-Indicator-Turn-Signal-Buzzer-GS1000-38790-45400-/223468709972

    GS1100/650 parts interchange?

Not a lot is the answer and none of the bits you listed there other than the lights.

GS550E Front and Rear Brake Caliper rebuild kit

These are on ebay from an 850 but will plug straight on: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-Gs850-Front-Brake-Calipers-Lines-And-Master-Cylinder/284145956823?hash=item42286b37d7:g:cTQAAOSweDpf~ecD From a 650 - again plug and play...

Rear Pattern chrome shocks from Wemoto

I'd second YSS. Very good quality, excellent value for money and much underrated in my opinion.

Breather Hose - Engine Valve Cover To Airbox

I've seen them replaced with garden hose. That works but looks pants. Breather hose from old BSAs / Triumphs fits and is a lot cheaper.

    Gasket manufacture .....

Gently tap it out using a ball pein hammer.

    Seal expanded after removal ...

Those o rings are really expensive for what they are. Sometimes they can expand as they've absorbed oil (maybe some got in from your oil leak). Try rubbing them with neat fairy liquid to pull out any contaminant then rinse, dry and place in the fridge.

GS550E Front and Rear Brake Caliper rebuild kit

If you need new pistons go stainless and they're done forever. I've bought a good few from this guy - excellent quality, service and price...

    GS 750 oil pressure

Yep, it makes a helluva mess if you leave the cover off!

Stumped- GS550L Consistently rich with stock jetting

This. Very often overlooked - I've seen plenty of 'cleaned' carbs where the emulsion tubes look more like mouldy Twiglets than mouldy Twiglets.

    GS 750 oil pressure

Have you checked that the oil light feed isn't earthing out or that the switch isn't stuck in the open i.e. earthing position? Every oil pressure issue I've come across on a GS is actually an electrical issue.
