A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I haven't ridden up that way. I lived in Kittanning for a couple of years, but moved back to Cleveland. My job moved to Pittsburgh 5 years ago which is part of the reason I haven't been riding.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I was a little tentative at first, but it felt too dang good for that to last. I just wish it would have been warm enough to take the long way home.

Went for my first ride in 5 years today. Brought home a new toy.

    Zip Tie Side Covers

I replaced the grommets on my 82 1100E and ended up breaking off one of the posts. I think the tighter fit on the new grommets put additional stress on plastic that was slightly embrittled from age. When I get it back on the road I wll have some zip ties as backup. The 82-83 1100Es have the...

    Windshield

I went through several different windshields on my 78 GS750 back in the day. I started off with a small windsheild that was actually made for a scooter. It offered no protection for the hands, it only took the wind blast off of my chest. That made a big difference in the fatigue level for an all...

    My homemade cycle lift table

The table looks good to me. I had one I put together with some scrap shelves I got from work, but I never felt confident lifting the table with the bike on it. I ended up making a gardening bench for my wife out of it. I get the possible issues with the 2x4 struts possibly splitting, but that...

Muriatic Acid for bringing plastic back??

Yes, muriatic acid is hydrochloric acid. I would not use it on plastic. It may not attack some plastics. If they were using it to clean the fogged up lenses, what they are actually doing is removing the top layer of plastic with the brush and the acid. They make products to that job that are a...

    Goodbye K11RS, hello R11S

Nice bike. The S was always my favorite of the recent Boxer Twins. I had my wife sit on the back of one at the dealer last year and she thought it was comfortable, or at least roomy enough.

0% financing for 5 years on new Suzukis

The only Suzuki in their current lineup that really appeals to me is the Bandit. Since my wife has resumed riding with me, the passenger accommodations are a non starter.

    Half Cafe Racer Half Bagger?

If what you're going for is the cafe riding position (lower bars, possibly rearsets) but with saddlebags, that's kind of what I was going for on my GS750. I ended up with the Vetter Quicksilver fairing when the headlight shell disintegrated while trying to attach a small windscreen. A full cafe...

Squishy front brake lever- not air.

On my 1980 750, which had the rectangular front master cylinder, there was one air bubble that just would not come out. What I ended up doing was taking my Mityvac, along with the narrowest nozzle it came with. When I stuck that down into the master cylinder by the bottom hole, and pulled in the...

    Need to pull the battery....Help!

I always kept the gas tank on, and just removed the four bolts from the front seat support. You can then lift up the rear of the gas tank and prop it up with a short piece of board under the front seat support. Then pull the rear airbox off and you can get to the battery. In order to remove the...

    Voltage Drop

I'm resurrecting this thread. I was checking the voltage on the bike to try & track down why my headlight isn't very bright. I had the bike on the battery tender to make sure the battery was fully charged. With the ignition switch on but the bike not running my voltage at the battery was 12.0V...

    Fixing plastic mounts before painting

I wouldn't try to sink a washer into the ABS either. I would think it would weaken the whole assembly as far as vibration resistance goes. I would try putting a washer over the hole, assuming there is clearance to do so. Any epoxy would hold the washer in place to make assembly easier when you...

    Installed a voltmeter

I have a different digital voltmeter, which I have wired to the battery. When I had my heated grips hooked up, I noticed that the voltage reading was unreadable when using the grips. The controller for the grips was designed to switch the grips on & off up to something like 20 times per second...
