A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Interchangeable cdi units?? Help

If you have mechanical advance, you'll be able to rotate the rotor by hand to the advanced position, spring tension will return it to the retarded position when you let go. With electronic advance, the rotor is fixed and will not move by hand or change position relative to crankshaft position.

    coil spark test

Yes, it does. Dual output coils will use the other HT lead as the return path so if you connect two plugs up and ground them together you’ll have a complete secondary circuit.

1983 GS750ES Bikes goes dead when Flasher is removed

Sounds like you're backfeeding through the flasher due to a poor/lost power connection somewhere upstream.

Adapting Electrosport regulator - rectifier for 83-86 to 1978 GS750

That's apparently their claim to fame Upping voltage and lowering current would reduce how hot the stator gets at any given power output.

Adapting Electrosport regulator - rectifier for 83-86 to 1978 GS750

Well the ESR130 would be for a 1984 GS750ES/ESF, GSX750ES/ESF and it's 5-wire and matches OEM color coding (as does all the electrosport regulators I've looked up thus far). I'm just puzzled why two red and two green wires - it'd be nice to confirm with OEM diagram where they go and perhaps get...

Adapting Electrosport regulator - rectifier for 83-86 to 1978 GS750

That sku number 321-1653 comes back as a ESR550 for a 1998-99 Suzuki LT-F500F Quadrunner 4x4 but from electrosport's website the ESR550 only has 5 wires and none of them are yellow. I don't know what regulator you have but best of luck - either I read the number on the box wrong or that box...

Adapting Electrosport regulator - rectifier for 83-86 to 1978 GS750

Yellow, White/Blue, White/Red are all stator wires. What model electrosport regulator/rectifier is this? What bike is it actually for? My looking up 83-86 suzuki GS regulator/rectifiers on their site doesn't come up with anything with 7 wires. Off hand, the only 7 wire ones I've found are for...

    84 gr650 can't find parasitic draw

Something isn't right, you can't boil a battery by draining it dead. You can only boil it by overcharging it. And while these old bikes should have zero current draw when off, 5mA (0.005 A) is not enough of a draw to cause any issues outside of a low/dead battery after weeks of sitting.

    System Relay Mod

The relays aren't bad, your setup is bad. Terminal 87 is NO (normally-open) and Terminal 87A is NC (normally-closed). Hooking a coil to each terminal 87 and 87A means that only one coil can work at a time depending on whether the relay is energized or not. For a coil relay mod, both coils should...

How to tell if I'm on compression stroke

Great methods given but I'm going to go at this another way. You're doing a cylinder leakdown test, so set the piston at TDC and run your test. If you get leakage rotate the crank 360? and run the test again. The test that leaked less is/was your TDC compression stroke.

'82 GS750e Persistent hanging idle, not an air leak?

Interesting, my '82 GS750E has the lever as does the Suzuki parts microfiche of the OEM petcock That's the same behavior that occurs when you start the bike with the choke. You didn't mention if you used/needed the choke to start the bike cold. My idle mixture screws are at about 2-1/2 turns...

    Brass Nuts

It's not all that bad, if you buy 100 of the M8's it's down to $3.92 per nut from $33.12 per nut if you only buy 8.

Relay for CDI to M Unit.

The info found at that link in incorrect for suzuki gs'es. Further I'd like to clarify, what you call CDI is called an ignitor, and what you call a stator is called a signal generator or pickup coil. The GS'es aren't equipped with Capacitive Discharge Ignitions.

Reasons my bike would go to twin mode

What RPM did you sync the carbs at and what rpm are you idling at? What were the results of your coil swap?

Suzuki GR (almost GS) 2 cyl Tempter is charging low .. and coil question

13.2v after shutting the bike off is a well charged battery, and 0.5v higher than that (13.7v) at 3k rpm isn't a bad deal. I'm not seeing a "low charging" complaint here.
