A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Still gotta do some more testing to be sure, but took it out for a 30 mile ride yesterday after setting the floats to 19mm and didn't have any issues.

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

But it's *only* at high speed (when using more fuel) it never has issue idling or at lower speeds. So if I drink all the fuel in the carb (because it didn't fill up enough to begin with) then even a functioning petcock wouldn't be able to keep up, right?

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Start up was better even from cold. Only had to touch the idle adjustment once and then didn't touch it at all (normally I have to move it after things are warmed up) The ride I went on today was hard. I really let the throttle have it and I didn't have a single issue. The only thing I did...

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Alright, the idle screws are backed out to 6 turns. Start up was a little better (didn't need to use the idle adjustment screw hardly at all). However, after getting it warm and doing some easy riding I then took it out for something harder. Once I get up to 5th or 6th gear (around 60mph) it...

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Yes. Once it's warm and running fine, I can have the choke completely off *and* turn the adjustment screw all the back. I realize this is not normal, but I can't figure out why it's necessary to get it started and running happy. Obviously the idle circuit isn't happy, but I can't fathom which...

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Still seems pretty lean. How on earth do I give this thing more gas without it getting weird on me lol

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Alright, gas cap seems to have been then issue on the high end. I rode around today and it didn't do it to me as often as it did before. I rode the same route and it only happened once. Not sure why Backed out the idle screws out in half-increments to about 5. That seemed to help but I think it...

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Oh yeah! I'd forgotten about those lol This is a 450 I remember reading your adventures and how you solved it by backing them out a crazy amount. I'll give that a shot as well, thanks!

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

This might be it, I filled for gas before the ride and noticed it didn't click like normal but just assumed I did it wrong. I'll try that and see

Float height should be correct (at least according to several manuals). I do have correct jets installed I *think* I have the correct needles, I'd have to check I do have caps on the orifices

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Yeah I just took it out this morning and it's been giving me issues. It appears to be running too lean still. The sparkplugs are basically spotless. It rode fine for a minute, but then a few miles down the road after going about 55 in 5th gear, it suddenly lost most of its power. After pulling...

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

I think this was it. Replaced the petcock and tested last night for just a bit and it didn't run away from me like it was. Rode twice today for an hour or so and didn't have any issues. The startup sequence is a little weird, not sure how long bikes usually take to get warmed up, but if I put...

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

It's barely open as it is. Just enough to keep running when I started it yesterday. I'll try and get it running and then back it down to see if that helps

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Now, to be clear, you're talking about the screws here on the top of the carbs (between the carbs and engine; towards the bottom of the picture) and not the one that props the throttle valves open (middle of the picture, under the fuel inlet T connector) Right now they're about 2 turns out...

Hanging Idle (I know, but bear with me) and different carbs

Choke seems to be working fine? Moves as it should, looked normal when I took it apart to clean the carbs. Is there an easy way to test the air box? I just can't wrap my head around how it would run fine for a while and then start getting weird once it's warm If I'm not moving the throttle and...
