All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

When you take the calipers apart, be sure to check the pistons for pitting. If you find any - and chances are, you will - they'll need to be replaced.

Cam Chain Tensioner Guide...reuse or replace?

Thanks for the input, Ray. Our initial thought was also that it should be replaced, but like Chuck said it isn't exactly a cheap part, not to mention having to wait another 2 weeks for it. The more I think about it, the part doesn't do anything other than press against the cam chain. With the...

Cam Chain Tensioner Guide...reuse or replace?

Chuck and I were putting the engine for my '82 GS1100 GLZ (8v) back together today, and noted this wear on the rear cam chain tensioner guide (large images for detail): The grooves have a depth of approximately 0.53mm. The material appears to have some fine 'cracking' in it, but does...

    Stahlgrau333's 76 GL 1000 Goldwing

Yeah, the left mirror is probably the 'worst' issue left to address. The PO did a number on it, and it's going to require replacing the entire switch / lever / mirror assembly. I just haven't been able to locate a 'correct' one in decent condition yet.

Hell Chuck, a '77 would give us an entire 1st Gen set, wouldn't it?

The easiest way is to post links to pics hosted elsewhere, such as PhotoBucket or the like. BikeCliff has a good tutorial here: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/bikecliff/images/how_to_post_pictures.pdf

Doin the 550/673 swap, and I have some ?s

That site is an excellent reference. Thanks for posting it. As tkent said, there's nothing stupid about asking questions when you don't know. Hell, I learn a TON just from answering questions. The best way to really learn a subject is to teach it. Most of the slotted cam sprockets I've...

Doin the 550/673 swap, and I have some ?s

Not quite. You MUST use either the 650E or 550 sprockets, in order to maintain the timing between the crank and the cams. If you use the larger 650G sprocket, you will never get the engine timed correctly, and will probably destroy your valves (if you can even get the chain to fit). The cam...

    Solid State Power Box

Got mine in the mail a few days ago. As others have already said, the build quality is impressive. In addition, as Bob already said, I love the fact that it's "Made in the USA". I can't wait to get the project far enough along to put it to use!

    GS550 Bored 740cc Officially Done!

Thanks for the update, brveagle. I have been wondering about the heat issue, so that input is definitely appreciated. I was also dying to know how you got the 750 pistons to 'fit', thanks for clearing that up.

    GS650 rearsets???

I'm fairly certain that rearsets designed for the GS550 will interchange. I just threw away the 650 frame I had last week, otherwise I'd verify it for you. Check here... http://www.fastfromthepast.com/servlet/the-Rearsets-cln-Suzuki/Categories...
