A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

what did you wrench on today??

Threw another 12 or so HP into the 1250 Bandit today. I bought it with a pipe on it but no tuner. So I took the pipe off last year and put the stock exhaust back on. Today I did the o2 delete, Pair delete and added a tuner and pipe back on. Quite a shocking difference actually. It;s the torque of the town as they say.

Test fit the cheapo $30 Dyna S knockoff I bought on Ebay, wired it up to check for spark. The magnetic rotor required quite a bit of sanding of the ID before it would slide onto the crank rotor shaft, ditto the slots that the factory advance weights slide in. But it all seems to be moving smoothly and I do have spark on all four cylinders again. This was all precipitated by the OE igniter giving up the ghost on cyls 2/3 (burned up transistor presumably). I tried to solder on a known good transistor from another spare semi-failed igniter but I suspect I may have overheated it while soldering. FleaBay to the rescue, as well as @bwringer donating a pair of used OE '82 coils to the ressurection cause. Once I complete more permanent/tidy wiring maybe I'll finally get this thing back out of the garage for some test riding.

I was surprised today. I have just installed a Dyna Ds3-2 in my 80/1100L, no spark on 1/4 changed the coil and checking for spark she tried to start on cylinders. 1/2. I am excited to have the old girl running proper again.

Had to put a new battery in the Speed 400.
Yup...
One month out of warranty, and the cheap Exide battery lost a cell.

Sorry Bob, never know what to expect with batt.'s. What I've seen over the yrs., the brand nor cost of batteries means much... I just replaced the batt. in my ZRX 1100, a couple of wks. ago, and the piece of tape I'd put on it said 8/17/18 and $43.00. It is a CHROMEBATTERY off ebay. Found the exact same battery still on ebay but now $45.00, so of course ordered another hoping for same results. Also noticed a while back the Interstate batt. in my Tacoma, their sticker says 5/20 and the piece of tape I put on says Blem, $45.00... No doubt been luckier than you. Hope you get luckier this time.
