If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    YSS rear shocks for '79gs1k

I know this is an old thread but with the 0.9 sonic springs and racetech emulators with standard preload spacers, I'm not getting any say in the front while my rear sag on stock shocks ('79 gs1000e) are set for proper sag (then I increased the preload on the rear bc the front was too stiff)...

Twinpot Brake upgrade on 78 Skunk

Finally bolting up the salty monk twin pot upgrade on my 1979 gs1000e and I see the speedo drive dust seal (#10 in parts Fischer metal shield with 6 holes for rotor bolts) extends about 4mm past the wheel hub. I don't see why I should trim the dust seal in fact I think it should be longer to...

    Ohlins 13" rear shocks

Any you folks running ohlins rear shocks and if so, what part number and who are potential suppliers in the usa?? Im looking for new shocks on my '79 gs1k
  8. garyS-NJ

Changed fork seals and oil. Now dampening feels very stiff.

Overfilling can make the front end harsh. Perhaps your oil level is wrong bc 10wt fork oil should be fine.. otherwise with the wheel off and springs out I would check that each lower leg slides smoothly on the inner fork tube.

'79gs1000 salty monk cbr6 rotor concourse calipers upgrade

I assembled the wheel and rotor with trim ring outside and looks like the trim ring acts to stabilize the speedo drive so is 0.010" trimmed off about right ?

'79gs1000 salty monk cbr6 rotor concourse calipers upgrade

OK I'm in a quandary. The stock front disc's fit well on the hub but the cbr6 disc's have some slop. If I put the outside speedo drive trim ring (that which lies immediately under the disc locking plates gor nuts) above the salty monk spacers, it takes up the slop but I lose my 0.190"...

    YSS rear shocks for '79gs1k

I went on the YSS website and they list only the economy shock and the Z series shock (just rebound damp adjust which may mean compression and rebound single damp adjuster). The 335mm G series shock comes up for a gsx14 which is never heard of but I guess I will email them to verify the range...

    YSS rear shocks for '79gs1k

Your experience here is odd because I have the 1.0kg/mm and at 160 lbs I get almost no sag. Dan had 0.8 at his 160lbs and suggested I go down to 0.9kg... did you look at your static sag? And travel after riding and braking hard? (I use a zip tie to see max deflection).

'79gs1000 salty monk cbr6 rotor concourse calipers upgrade

So no benefit to the late ex650 nissan calipers over the earlier concourse calipers? I have the concourse calipers but kinda like nissan over tokico..

    '80s box aluminum gs11 swinger in '79 gs1k

I can't move the swinger up to the pivot bolt wo interference at the peg mount hoops so it might be 1/16" on each side so I'll spread them maybe 1/8" and see.

    YSS rear shocks for '79gs1k

Yes. I did the racetech cartridge emulators with sonic springs and love it but picked 1.0 springs and at 160 lbs I've almost no sag so I need to go lighter.

    YSS rear shocks for '79gs1k

Thanks Dan! Hey while I have you I'm looking at these gold cbr6 front rotors and thinking would be nice if I could swap in a gold rear rotor. Is there a rotor or rotor & caliper upgrade for the back?
