    Tuning with an air/fuel meter.

Update, It got up to 70*F and I got in a nice 40 mile ride to see my body man about painting my car. I rode the GS and the O2 readings stayed between high 11's and low 12's, I had turned the accelerator pump down a bit and during a 70mph throttle whack, the air/fuel went a tiny bit richer and...

    niche front rotors Q?

Update, I've gotten a few rides in, gave the brakes quite a few stops to seat the pads and rotors, The bike stops well and I like the look too. I have not found a replacement rear rotor but the new lines, pads and etc have worked out well.

    81 GS1100E brake hoses.

Sorry Rob but the 69 firebird body isn't anything to see yet, at least the top side, it has Art Morrison front and rear frame clips with the frame connectors made by me. The front has C6 corvette front a arms and brakes and the rear is a tri-angulated 4 bar on a 9" housing with a Daytona pinion...

    81 GS1100E brake hoses.

I got excited when it was nearly 60*F yesterday and today, so I got busy and swapped the brake lines on. They fit OK, the front top line wasn't ideally indexed but I angled the top end out towards the lever and it doesn't look too goofy. It bled out easily with the help of a harbor freight vac...

    81 GS1100E brake hoses.

I ended up ordering Galfer lines, I got black lines with silver fittings, I got the front set of three and a rear line also. I mostly ordered them because they are allegedly made in USA. I got them through an ebay seller and it took nearly a month. I'm welding up a 304 stainless steel exhaust...

    Aluminum re-finishing.

I enjoyed watching the tracking while usps juggle the shipping, the address had a wrinkle in it and the machine apparently couldn't read it. It was in Michigan twice, Illinois several times, Indiana once and St. Louis 3 times. It arrived a couple weeks late but at least it arrived. Everything...

    niche front rotors Q?

I took my niche refund money and ordered a set of sintered niche front pads, they arrived and are Emgo brand. I wonder if they bought the Emgo inventory? I mashed my finger and sliced it a little between the pad and wheel spoke while checking the clicking and clearance. I'll be sure not to do...

I'm ready to replace my brake hoses, does anyone have a favorite source?

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

This was a week or so ago, it got up to 55*F so I checked out the new front rotors. I told Niche that I modified something so the rotor buttons would clear the calipers, they replied don't use them and gave my money back. Fat chance that I'm throwing them away now.

    niche front rotors Q?

I rode the GS today and the brakes worked perfectly, in the meantime Niche has refunded the purchase price. I guess I'll buy new pads and a rear rotor now also. Does anyone have favorite original type pads?

    niche front rotors Q?

Final report. It got up to 40*F so I road tested the brakes today, no pulsing, no clicking and they stop well. I was going easy breaking them in but like what I'm feeling so far. The fresh fork fluid is awesome, mostly 10W Belray fork oil except for a few oz of ATF I added to get the amount that...

    niche front rotors Q?

My issue was different than the EBC rotor issue. The OD of the Niche rotor buttons were clicking on the pad material on the inside of both rotors. I clearanced the pad material about 1/32" and the problem is solved. Niche originally sent a snarky email when I asked about it. Then I told them how...

    niche front rotors Q?

Today I checked the caliper clearance to the Niche rotors, the caliper brackets clear fine. When I removed the caliper section and held the pads in place the rotor buttons hit the pad material near the center. I removed a pad and ground the friction material maybe 1/32" and held the pad by hand...

    niche front rotors Q?

Niche says they engineer rotors to oem specifications and I should refer to the oem service manual. I'm unsure how that helps with clicking spools on their rotors that oem rotors do not have. In other words, tough ship. I'm confident that I can clearance them enough to work safely. Since the EBC...

    Rockauto is not BS!

I was able to buy rebuilt rear calipers for a Lincoln Mark V. no one local could get them and Rock Auto had a set. I had to buy two different brands to make a pair and they shipped separately but at least I got them. I made a mistake and used them on a build because that's what I had. I ended up...

    niche front rotors Q?

Here's a video of the same issue with EBC rotors. I was able to spin the front wheel to a pretty good speed with a buffing wheel on a drill motor, as I eased on the brake there was no sign of pulsing or run-out on the new rotors. HOW TO INSTALL EBC BRAKE ROTORS ON GS1100E OR SIMILAR...

    niche front rotors Q?

The left rotor spools were lightly touching the inside of the caliper, I thought I had it cured but was incorrect. I'm not sure how a floating caliper plays with a floating rotor. I'm sure maintenance of the slider is a top concern.

    Aluminum re-finishing.

I got 2 of the flap wheels from ZTSupply on ebay for under $23 shipped. Airgas has similar ones for 2 times that price each. I do break them in a little before polishing something precious.

    Aluminum re-finishing.

Very nice, the polish I like is green dragon, when I look it up, I find a cannibis/alcohol drink. lol. It has carnuba wax in it so it also seals the aluminum a little to keep it looking good for a while. I used to get it from a guy at the drag strip, now I see it listed at the highway shine company.

    Aluminum re-finishing.

I've been using these interleaf flap wheels to re-finish the old coatings and corrosion on my bikes aluminum. It works quickly and doesn't leave behind a lot of scratch marks in spite of being 80 grit, the scotchbrite between the sandpaper softens it up. Then I use my favorite aluminum polish by...
