All new forum registrations must be activated via email before you have full access to the forum.

A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Maybe add the minimum recommended wire size to the drawing. Most of us will need to look it up when we wire up the connectors, if we can't easily buy the Triumph part. Jim

    83 GS650G body decals

The only comment I had from the painter was that he thought the material was a bit thicker than Reproduction so he used a lot of clear on the edges. I might be able to take a picture of the tank and/or covers tonight. I think they aren't too buried in the garage. Brian also does the decals for...

    Gs850g vs 650g

I agree with the Admiral. When I bought the 650G new in 1983, McBride Cycle (long gone) had the 650G and the 850G sitting side by side on the sales floor. I'm a small guy so the 650G just fit better. At the time I planned to use it mostly for commuting and occasional weekend runs with a bag full...

    Rear shock shopping

Another aggravation is that some of the old fitment data from the suppliers is just plain wrong. The best way to fit a shock is to measure an original shock and go from there. Jim

    Yet another tire thread

I liked the 120/90-17 on my GS650G but i only had it for two weeks before it was destroyed. The 130 didn't feel as good but the difference was subtle and hard to explain. After a few days I got comfortable with it again. Jim

    Yet another tire thread

That was my understanding also. I think I bought the only 120/90-17 in Toronto at the time (1988?). Even then it wasn't a common size. Jim

    Yet another tire thread

I had a Metzeler ME99 120/90-17 on the back of my GS650G for a few weeks. It felt good but I didn't get a chance to give it a good run because it was destroyed by a handful of sheet metal screws two weeks after it was installed. The dealer had a 130/90-17 in stock and I have been using that size...

    All-Time BEST Screwdriver:

I have a Snapon ratcheting screwdriver and a stubby Mac ratcheting screwdriver, both gifts from my mechanic son. They get used all the time. I retired all my other ratcheting screwdrivers. I bought some JIS bits from RJR Cool Tools for the bike. The rest of my tools are a mishmash of Craftsman...

    A thing of beauty.........75 Wing

I almost bought a used 75 Wing in this color at McBride Cycle instead of my GS650 back in 1983. The Wing went to a friend of a friend who put many kms on it. Jim

HF Utility Trailer For My "T" GS750TZ

I'm a bit late to the party but I also bought a folding trailer this summer. I haven't moved the bike with it yet, but I did carry a couple of large pieces of furniture from Sherbrooke to Toronto with no issues at all. The wooden stakes and the front and back rails were made with found...

    recovering seat - vapor barrier?

My 650 has the original seat cover directly on the foam, no plastic. However the original cover has a thin layer of foam sandwiched between vinyl and a plastic layer that has mostly rotted. The replacment cover from Saddlemen is just vinyl and foam. Jim
