A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Looking good. How did the painter deal with the clear coat on the tank and still save the decals? Jim

    Decals and Badges

I couldn't find anything for my 1983 GS650G so Brian at Bdesigns.ca in Kitchener is doing a set for me. He is part way through the design. We will meet next week to look at colors. Jim

    Pure red (07G) tape sample

I think the orange looks pretty good but red is a tough color. I compared the orange to some color samples that Ted Cymbaly has for his Katanas and found that his orange is a bit more red than this side cover. Brian is tracing the decals now and will need to choose colors soon. We might have to...

    Pure red (07G) tape sample

The NOS side cover arrived. The background is maroon, but the red and orange should be the same as my bike. The orange looks OK but the red is a bit washed out by the flash. Yes, it's a bit dirty. I want Brian to see the colors as received, so I didn't clean or dust the cover. Jim

    Pure red (07G) tape sample

That's definitely a 1983 cover. I believe that the red and orange tape were the same on the both the black and red bikes, although the part numbers are different for the tape sets. It's kind of hard to see an accurate color on a typical eBay photo. Brian says he can match the tape color off the...

    Pure red (07G) tape sample

I have Suzuki-Farbcode.pdf but the decal guy would rather match new old stock decals if I can find them. My decals are just too faded. The bike spent a lot of time parked in direct sun when I used to ride to work every day. If I can't find anything I will make a best guess based on old photos...

    1983 GS650G project

As per rustybronco's recommendation in my Appearance thread, forget Anderson Vintage. They have been on the deadbeat list forever. I can't find my colors on the GS1000G color charts so I assume the bike on ADVrider was a custom paint job. Both the links above look like the same paint job...

    1983 GS650G project

The tank, front fender and plastics went to BDesigns in Kitchener yesterday so Brian could scan the decals for me. Now I am looking for new old stock samples of pure red and Sunday orange to match colors. Anderson Vintage has a few early 80s emblems that might be useful, but nothing for the...

    Pure red (07G) tape sample

I saw the Sunday Orange sample yesterday but it looked too red to me. The supplier told me that both red and orange fade badly so the best bet is to find a new old stock decal that was stored properly. He doesn't need to know the exact color until he prints the decals so I have a couple of weeks...

    Pure red (07G) tape sample

Does anyone have an unmolested sample of the Pure Red (07G) tape used on my 1983 GS650G? My red tape is badly faded so any color matching I do with it is bogus. I will be sending my tank and plastics out to get the decals reproduced while there is still some decal left. The closest I have found...

    Robert Barr

Another thumbs up for Robert Barr. My O-ring kit arrived today and looks great. Now I just have to figure out how to get the carbs off the bike without destroying anything else. That's a tight fit! The total delivery time was two weeks, one week for the bank draft to get to Robert and one week...

    RJR Cool Tools

Thumbs up for RJR Cool Tools. I ordered some JIS screwdrivers from them at the end of November. The owner responded quickly to email and the order was confirmed and shipped the same day I placed the order. I ordered the Motorcycle Set (#1, #2, and #3 drivers) and the 1/4" hex drive bit set (#0...

    Another Bike Table Design

Nice. I was thinking about work platforms yesterday while lying on a damp garage floor. The hinged legs are brilliant. I'm guessing that the platform is around 2 feet wide, 7-8 feet long and maybe 2-3 feet high with the casters. The only thing I might add would be some bracing on the legs if...

I know all about life getting in the way, but in my case it was financial. Emergency drain repairs and an unexpected furnace repair killed my bike repair fund. The last time I started the bike it was only running on three cyclinders so I shut down the riding season and started to pull things...
