I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

HELP!!!! Oil leak and rally 3 days away!

leon, Thanks for the post. I did pull the starter, but because I could not get it completely out (did not pull the carbs), I was not able to examine the cavity for any holes. I did notice some oil down in the bottom of the cavity, but I was wondering how so much oil could come out and give my...

HELP!!!! Oil leak and rally 3 days away!

Thanks Ed. I had a look at the cutaway image on the parts fiche and there seems to be a rectangular box there but nothing going to it. I did notice that the area was right below where the bottom and top cases meet. Relic, I was contemplating a rubber plug with a notch grooved out to ensure...

HELP!!!! Oil leak and rally 3 days away!

I really in hopes the good folks of the GSR can help me now. I have had oil leaking from the 750 for some time, but it was usually pretty slow and I had yet to identify where it's origin was from. Well today, it started coming out quite a bit faster. I had oil on the side wall of my rear tire...

    Dyna S failures

Dynatek has a discount replacement program Dynatek has a discount replacement program FYI. I removed the Dyna III from my recently acquired KZ1000 knowing full well it was fried. I contacted Dyna because they will check the unit for you at no cost and they have a discount replacement program...

    Dyna S failures

Just wanted to chime in on my Dyna S experience. I've had one in my GS750 for 10 years and it's the one thing I never have to worry about. It's on an aluminum plate too. Sure beats points! I almost gave away my tach/dwell meter last fall, but you never know... 8-[ J

    LED Battery Gauge by Kuryakyn

NewGSGuy, It's not too hard if you have a simple understanding of electricity. Depending on your GS model, the necessary wires go right by your ignition switch and into the head light bucket. It's ideal to hook up the constant hot to the red wire that comes straight from your fuse box or...

    LED Battery Gauge by Kuryakyn

I'm confused then. One of the earlier posts indicated that the $21 version has 9mA draw when the bike is off and that if you wired to an ignition wire and not a constant hot, you would have to reset the clock every time. J

    LED Battery Gauge by Kuryakyn

Hey gang, I've actually had the Kuryakyn meter on my bike all of this year. I've been through plenty of rain too (especially on my way back from the E/SE rally last June). Mine has yet to fog up or function incorrectly. The dimmer still works right too. I will whole-heartedly agree that it...

I.D. my bike & get a newbie started off right

To reiterate rphillips, the E models always had dual disk brakes in the front. However, this one only has one disk and I have never come across one that had air forks either in person or on a parts fiche. Now, the 78-79 GS1000's had air forks, so it could be a swap since the calipers were the...

    850 vs 1100

I just soldered a brass nipple to the bottom of a campbells soup can that has two holes on the side near the top. In the holes, I run a coat hanger through to make a hook that will hang off of my handlebars. Hook up a piece of fuel line from the nipple to your carbs and presto. Of course...

I.D. my bike & get a newbie started off right

rickt, You're right. You have the C model. I have the EC model (both 78). E's came with the mags, dual disks and stepped seat. I'll edit my post. J

I.D. my bike & get a newbie started off right

Dardoonk, You've got a real assemblage here. 1. You've got a 1977 GS750B. B stands for model year in this case. However, someone has put mag wheels and the step seat from a 1978(C) or 1979(N) "E" model. The letters in parentheses are for model year. The "E" means "chain & sport" model...

    parts and fiche

I have a new addition to add to this post. Turns out that my local dealer has put parts fiche online for Suzuki, Kawasaki and Yamaha. The place is called Bob Tracey's World of Cycles. I have made many purchases with them since my relocation to Pittsburgh and I am very satisfied with their...

New advice on an old throttle cable problem...

After working through most of the gremlins on my 1100G, I can't seem to get rid of one particular problem. Since I have owned it, when you turn the handlebars all the way to the right, the throttle would increase to about 3K. Ok, it's obvious that the throttle cable is binding or bending or...

    Anyone recognize this Master Cylinder?

I've seen that master cylinder on Jimcor's 82? GS550L. I was intrigued when I saw it and inspected it further. The reservoir is angled because of the big sweep in the handle bars on L models. The cap should be level when mounted properly. Here it is on Alpha-sports. Aside from the angled...

Replacing the CV carb sync screw+locknut with something better

Thanks for the kudos Brian. I'm not sure I want to polish something that I would never see though! Only Bob is that kind of purist (in a good way). THe McMaster Carr price is $35 for the meter of threaded rod. Use the existing nut and all you have to worry about is the springs. What kind of...

Replacing the CV carb sync screw+locknut with something better

Why not just solder the existing nut onto the end of the aformentined threaded rod. There's not enough heat between the carbs to liquify the solder. If you put washers on both ends of the spring, you would get a smooth turn. Make the threaded rod as long as you want and you could put a longer...

    Petcock conumdrum!

Wow, many replies since I last posted. Well, it's fixed and Brian's comment about inferior rebuild parts was a correct assessment. The o-ring that came with the K&L kit was too small and would not seat into the petcock correctly. I have a meager o-ring assortment in my garage and I put on one...
