A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Great support from Rick's Motorsport Electrics

I had to replace the regulator that's part of the alternator on my GSXR 1052 project ( https://www.thegsresources.com/_forum/showthread.php?249510-GSXR-1052-engine-in-GS-1000-frame) The part ordered from Rick's motorsport was slightly out of spec and given that I live in France it was not very...

GSXR 1052 engine in GS 1000 frame

Thanks! The good news is that I took the bike out for a (very) short ride today. It's quite amazing... The engine likes to rev and the "Devil" exhaust gives a deep grumble that's not too loud thanks to the db killer. The bike feels quite light allthough the long wheelbase doesn't help in sharp...

GS 1000 engine in GSXR 1100 first gen frame?

And positionned on the bike. There is some work to be done towards the exit but nothing too bad

GS 1000 engine in GSXR 1100 first gen frame?

I wasn't too happy with the GSXR 11 G/H OEM headers as they touched the bottom of the engine despite milling the bottom plate. They were also quite heavy. Luckily a few days ago an ad appeared for a "Devil" header for the same engine. Devil was a french company that in it's days was the...

The footpegs are now in place and the brake stay for the rear caliper is also functional.

GSXR 1052 engine in GS 1000 frame

I changed my rear wheel today, going from the 6 spoke 18" GSXR wheel to the 3 spoke 4.5*18 used on the 1988 model. The main reason beeing that it has the same spoke pattern as the front R6 wheel. It's also .5" wider allowing the use of a 160 wide tire.

GSXR 1052 engine in GS 1000 frame

I got the gear lever in place today. Not obvious as it had to be 310 mm long. In the end I used three rods to get the job done as an odd number is required to get the right male thread ( left and right) on each side.

GSXR 1052 engine in GS 1000 frame

Steve, it looks very similar but mine is labelled BA58100? Here it is: http://compteur2moto.com/compte-tours-rond/183-compte-tours-compteur-de-vitesse-koso-tnt-64mm-10000trmin.html It's the second one I'm using and I'm very satisfied so far.

Got the Koso rev counter hooked up yesterday. Quite easy, I took the signal direcly from the trigger input of the CDI.

GSXR 1052 engine in GS 1000 frame

Very good news today: the engine started with almost no difficulty! I say almost as after a few negative tries, I decided to exchange the spark plug leads between the 1/4 and 2/3 cylinders. Not obvious to identify in the documentation I have... Quite a stressfull moment as the engine was second...

The rear mudgard is now in place. I believe it looks right? The big advantage is that it will hold the turn signals!

GSXR 1052 engine in GS 1000 frame

I thought the same before buying the kit but while subcontracting the metal fabrication would probably cost half that price, any mistake would kill the benefit... The Mocca Racer was sold for 15000 Euros I believe, nothing comes for free!

Building bikes can only be as good as the subcontractors one can find. I believe you guys in the US have some of the best?

GSXR 1052 engine in GS 1000 frame

Hi Jim, The saddle comes from a Triumph Thruxton 1200 2017 model. I suppose you can get these in the US also?

GSXR 1052 engine in GS 1000 frame

A quick update; the saddle subframe is now temporarily bolted to the frame. It will be welded later on but I believe it looks good. The big question is where do I cut the existing frame given that the rear fender must be supported? In fact, I will use the OEM rear fender but relocated forward...
