A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Seized bolts? No problem.

Apparently it works. I was changing my ignitor yesterday which is mounted on the right side of the battery. One screw was badly stuck and I couldn't get a impact on it without removing lots of parts. Tried tapping the back of the screwdriver with a hammer. No luck. Sprayed it with wd40 and...

1983 Suzuki GS 1100 ESD Tach

"I was referring to the component sandwiched between three resistors on the right and a capacitor, resistor, and diode on the left on Clone's post. On my board that component is green. It sounds like you're saying that is a capacitor?" Yes that is a cap. Change it as well with the other caps (...

1983 Suzuki GS 1100 ESD Tach

Either my eyes or my monitor are going. I don't see a large green thing. There are 4 caps at 11:00,4:00, 5:00 and one north of the ic which appears to be light blue? Chris

1983 Suzuki GS 1100 ESD Tach

"There is no visible damage to the board or the components on the board, although I did measure the resistance across the diode and found it to be .4 ohms, I then reversed the leads to find the same resistance measurement. I did not remove the diode from the board for testing. Does this mean the...

    swingarm bearings

Thanks for the replies. I really need to add the bike to my sig. It is a 83 katana 750. I think it is called a GS750S? The information is great, unfortunatly I do not have a slide hammer or a press. I might just take it to the local dealer, the swing arm is off and sitting on the bench...

    Ground Loops

"When engineers speak of sneak paths it's typically of redundant paths that interfere with the normal operation of a system. For instance an alternate path for power to a radio that bypasses the fuse if there is a component failure in another system." plus 1 I"ve heard that phrase before in...

    swingarm bearings

I searched the forum and found some useful info but I do have one point that could use clarification. With the arm off the bike I have two short bushings that fit in each end. In the middle there apears to be a longer bushing which which does not appear to come out until the bearings are...

"I really do have a life outside of GS charging but this really Pi$$ed me off." Glad you're bike is working. You dug out the calculator and went over the whole system to try and find the problem? I'm either impressed or scared not sure what yet. Note to self "Don't upset this...

    Ground Loops

"As an example , say there is a 0.1 ohm of resistance in the fuse box. If the R/R output supplies both the Load current(10A) and the charge current (2A) then there will be a 1.2V drop below the regulation voltage at the battery" I actually experienced a fuse box like that. I had a 1 volt drop...

    I'm losing that GS feeling.....to a scooter???

I think scooters have their place in the world. The wife has a Yamaha BWS. Her second one because some cell phone talking idiot rear ended her while she was sitting at a red light. Her commute is city traffic all the way so lots of stop and go. That automatic transmission is handy in...

    transformer for multiple 12vdc sources?

If you are trying to get more power from your electrical system it wouldn't work. A xfmr can do many things but it has losses and limitations. I think all you would be doing is adding one more load onto your electrical system. But then again I have been out of school for a while. :-k C
