DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

78 GS750 engine overhaul on the Cheap!

You mention 'Factory Paint' on the engine. I'm in the process of restoring my '78 750EC. I was led to believe the only part of the engine that came painted from the factory, was a crankcase half. Up to now, I've never found out which half that was! Can you, or anyone else following your build...

    Do I need to spend $250 on a brake disk? 1983 GS850GL

If the rotors were under spec before you started, they're even more so now! What you gonna do if they fracture when you're doing 80? You'll be tickled then!

    Case finish

Well, Guys. Thanks very much for the replies! I think I'll go for vapour blasting the lot, see how it comes out, then take it from there. I was also going to get the carbs done at the same time. Is this a good idea (thinking how easily they're clogged up), or not?

    Case finish

Morning guys. 1978 GS750EC. What was the finish on the crankcases? I'm leaning toward vapour blasting the whole lot, cases, barrels/head/camcover ect. But ... I seem to remember, either the top or bottom crankcase was painted. Am I right? And, if I am, which case was it???

Into the deep end with an 82' gs1100e

Looks like its going to be a great project! You might regret the choice of 6 pots though! Unless you keep on top of the maintenance rigorously, they're not up to much. Four pots are a better, (in my opinion) bet!

    EC Paint.

Does anyone know what colour the tank emblems were for this 1978 750EC? Silver or, as I suspect, Gold?

    40$ '83 GS550ES project

Not necessarily! My GSXR750 had the plugs left out by the PO. I too thought the bottom end would be toast! Not so! After draining the oil and about 2 pints of water, stripping the motor down, t all looked brand new! Go figure!

    Cam end float

Morning Guys! I seem to remember, a few years ago on here, a member posted the modifications he had done to his motor (a GS750 iirc), to positively locate the cams, and eliminate most end float. The tap tapping was annoying him! I've tried to find his thread, but failed. Anyone remember it, or...

Hi Jan! Great project! Your welding looks ok to me! Far better than the PO's attempt! Keep the 'photo's coming!

    EC Paint.

Painted! I had a set of original type from Reproduction Decals, in Canada. I thought I'd only had them about 18 months. Turns out, it was nearer 10 years!!! Painter guy says they were a bit 'crumbly'round the edges, hence the painted stripes. He's also painting for me, an '85 GSXR750F, '99 B12...
