A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Need to buy clutch cover gasket 750t????

You can also buy a stock roll of gasket material at the auto parts store, trace the outline of your clutch cover, make sure you make some bolt holes and whammo, a clutch cover gasket. -J

    Bags Question.

This is going to be a hard find. The 79L model was loaded with proprietary parts. I believe most of the dressed GS models for that year were not L's. -J

    rim polishing

You should PM Wingnut (Bob). His 550L rims had a mirror finish on the them at the E/SE rally. Most of his metal surfaces had a mirror finish as a matter of fact. He spent all winter polishing his bike and has a great deal of info on the subject. -J

    GS Sightings

Was just in PIttsburgh scoping out a place to live and saw what looked to be an 80 or 81 GS550L in immaculate condition in the Olive Garden parking lot. I left a note on the handle bar pinch bolts about the GSR and encouraged the rider to check it out. Who knows? J

    Battery LED

Scud, If you are trying to get an accurate gauge on your battery level, I would run a wire straight to the battery or the large lead that goes from the the battery to the starter solenoid. The brown wire in your headlight passes through quite a few things and may not provide an accurate...

    Dyna S/wirng

Wayne, All I know on a dyna S is that the red wire goes to the 12V and the black wire goes to one coil and the white goes to the other coil. Are those previously mentioned colored wires coming from your coils? -Jon

    Metal Polishing Question.

Jim, The advice on not pressing too hard is good advice. Also you will notice pretty quick that your buff is not polishing very fast. That's when you know it's time to re-apply polish. Another thing you can do to keep your buff in good shape should the surface get somewhat burned or too...

How to recalibrate a speedometer if you took off the needle!

Back_online, You could surely do it that way, but I'm not sure how accurate it would be. The friend's vehicle would need to have perfect speedometer calibration to provide as an accurate reference. Also, you would have to be able to hold a constant speed. You would also need to disassemble...

    4-way flashers - need advise

Al, I sounds like it's take a few milliseconds for the GS to pump up the heavy duty flasher with enough current to get it going. Given that fact, go with an intermediate-duty flasher and see if that brings down your response time. Seems like you're heading in that direction already... good...

    Turn signal lamps not working

J2x, I'll take a stab at why you've got dual filament sockets in the front. Did that bike ever have a touring package on it? Maybe Suzuki wired duals in front to accomodate new bikes that went out with the a touring package? This is a real shot in the dark here... I'm pretty sure that most...

How to recalibrate a speedometer if you took off the needle!

Speedometer calibration in a nutshell: (For those of you who pulled the needle off by accident - this does not work for matching tires to your speedometer) What you need: -variable speed drill with locking trigger -stop watch 1. With bezel removed, mount speedometer assembly inside of orange...

Pastuerized and Earl! I have the SAME carbs on my 78 GS750. I compared your picture with my carbs and my "towers" have nothing on the bottom either. You may indeed have factory carbs! Want to know the kicker? Right now, I have 100 mains and it's running rich! -Jon

    HJC Helmets?

Michael, I have the the HJC CL-14 and I really like it. The CL-12 is cheaper because the model is a few years old and they are trying to unload it. These helmets are reasonably priced and I find that my big noggin feels pretty good in mine. I even took a 1000 mi road trip last year and my...

    Mounting & Wiring Dyna Coil in a 78 GS1000

Hoomgar, You want to know something that will really cook your goose? In DC applications, the negative is considered to be the source of power, not the positive. It is because of the direction electricity travels in a DC circuit! That's just trivia for the day and does not have much to do...

Question for you motor heads... 78 GS750

Thanks for all the advice all. I'm not burning any oil at this time, so I think I'll let it fly for now. Would anyone have any concerns with running an additive such as Sea Foam and clogging up the oil passages with debris? I guess if what's coming off is in the combustion chambers, then how...

    4-way flashers - need advise

Al, I'm sure an automotive turn signal relay would work fine. Make sure you get an intermediate or heavy duty turn signal relay. They handle higher loads much better (heavy duty can flash the four ways and a full complement of trailer lights).

Question for you motor heads... 78 GS750

Greetings all: I am in the process of major surgery on my bike this week. One of the operations on the list is swaping out the exhaust pipes. So I go into pop out the exhaust gaskets and notice just how black it is in the exhaust port on the head. I noticed there was about .01 or .02" of...
