A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Cotter Pin Installation

Yep. They come in any size imaginable. Been using one on the rear axle nut on the bike forever.

    Cotter Pin Installation

I don't think it makes any difference how the bend is. I stopped using them and went to the spring steel clamping cotter pin type for most things.

    Pic of the week game

That could be because there was no one in Norway that night. LOL Or, it could be that you were the only one that did not know the road went nowhere to nothing. hehehe Great pictures, but if you break down, you could be waiting a very long time for someone to come by. Years. lol

Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 - good tourer?

As far as I know, no Suzuki GS morotcycles of any model or year were ever made with a CDI ignition.

Lethal memory fail: Why drivers see, and then forget, motorcyclists.

Exactly! It's about possibilities and probabilities through constantly updated attentiveness. Don't be where bad things will be happening. We have the same perspective. I'm much too busy when I ride to divide my focus with music and chit chat on a hands free cell.

    New bike in the garage

Find out the mileage when the valves were last adjusted. If they are right, you should be able to hear the tappets. Not loud, just a little light footed leprechaun dance.heh

    New bike in the garage

I don't take the tank off to change the air filter either. LOL all I have to do is remove the plastic petcock handle and my hoses are long enough to access the air filter. heheh If it will make you feel better though, I DO remove the tank to adjust the valves. lol

SAVE that SPARK PLUG SOCKET. It is not standard and I doubt you will have anything else that will work. NGK D9EA No you don't! There is a spark plug socket in the tool kit and a short 1/4" rod that goes through the top of the socket to enable you to turn it. slip the socket over the spark...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

You probably have longer arms than I do, so they may work well for you. They force too much forward lean for me.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

My bars are set up to be optimum at speeds above 60 mph. Grand Prix bars rotated rearward until the grips barely clear the top of the tank with room for hands. That gives a little bit of body lean forward. At 60+, chest angle is balanced to airflow and there is zero weight on my wrists. If I...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I think you're going to find that old bandit is WAAY under rated. I've kept my 03 B12 since new. I've always looked at other bikes with the thought of getting the latest improvements. But, nothing I have ridden all these years is better. A few are almost as good though. LOL It truly is a...

Royal Enfield Himalayan 411 - good tourer?

Sounds like a Suzuki TU250 has the same performance, much better quality and dependability and only about 310 lbs weight. Plus the TU is also old school styling and single cylinder.

Tires Conversation - (might not belong here- but hey..? ) Serious thinking here-in

I hear ya. I tried Shinko and they were fine for handling and inexpensive too, but they were worn out in 4500 miles. Michelin Roads cost quite a bit more, and have excellent handling. In multiple sets of them, I average 18K on the B12 rear before the tread is down to replacement depth with the...

Tires Conversation - (might not belong here- but hey..? ) Serious thinking here-in

Well, if you're more sane than insane and unlikely to be scrapping the handle bar grips in the turns, probably be fine. heh

    Killswitch not working

The last bike I had blow a fuse was my GS1150E in 2003. As for the seagulls, what did you say to them? Maybe an unfair comment about them? LOL

Lethal memory fail: Why drivers see, and then forget, motorcyclists.

Agreed. The best way to not get run over is to not be there for the occasion. With a bit of practice, the time and location of those future events are significantly predictable.

    Gs 850 to 650 carb flanges 1982

The GS850 and the GS650 both use BS32mm carburetors, so the same rubber boot will fit either model carburetor boot to airbox. At the airbox end, I could not say more than probably. I am assuming you are asking about the rubber induction boot between the carburetor and air box. Not the...
