A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    bought new carbs

Hi, I guess I'd rather try to stick with flat-slides if I could. Thanks for the link

    bought new carbs

Well, it's been running pretty well, but then two things went wrong at once. First, it started smoking and the oil was disappearing, so I'm not sure that is yet. On that particular ride, I went to park it and saw it was ****ing gas out of the carbs. I pulled the carbs and broke the one of the...

    bought new carbs

Hi Chef, I'm just curious really. Everything I've found on this forum made it sound like the spacing was so different that there was no way they would fit. If I had known ahead of time, I probably wouldn't have bought them, but the ad said "may or may not be GSXR" so I couldn't tell if they...

    bought new carbs

well hot damn, that's the cheapest set I've seen in a long time. I usually find the new ones for $800+. thanks!

    bought new carbs

Hi Chef, I'm still within the 14-day policy so I could definitely return them. But could you tell me what make these carbs, besides the spacing, not even close? I mean, if I wanted to buy the right model, I would have to buy something like this, right? -...

    bought new carbs

Thanks for the info, Rob. But I just need the #1 carb body so I don't want to pay that much just for that.

    bought new carbs

I had an accident with my stock BS34 carbs, so I needed a replacement set. I found this on ebay and bought it - http://www.ebay.com/itm/270987668161?item=270987668161&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr Of course, he's not sure what model they are, but the ad does say they came...

    Removing old hard gaskets

The worst for me was when I did the top-end and had to replace the base gasket. It felt like it would never end with scraping and sanding around the studs.

    Removing old hard gaskets

I'm sure I'll get some slack on here for this method, but I've used razor blades to scrape and then grey scotch-brite pads and it's worked well. Very dangerous though.

what did you wrench on today??

I actually did pull the pan last year and ran a heli-coil through it, but it still leaked. So I pulled it recently and saw that there were some gouges on the mating surface. So I tried to smooth them out but had to use a grinder to get rid of the fins so I'd have working room, but ended up...

what did you wrench on today??

finally got sick of the stripped out oil-drain bolt, ordered a new pan. Dealer calls today and says it's on back-order, no idea when it'll show up. All I need to ride, too!

what did you wrench on today??

I've been trying to figure out why my bike is so cold-blooded and runs so rich when cold. I went through the carbs again and discovered that one of the pilot air screws is actually a 160 and the are 180's. I'm waiting on some gaskets before I can run, but I hope that helps fix the problem

    cant get it up!

I had problems with my 1100ED when I first got it. grabbing the shock with my right hand has helped a ton, now it's pretty easy

    seized pilot screws

thanks for the ideas, guys. I'll give them a shot

    seized pilot screws

anyone ever have them? I tried to adjust mine and discovered that one had a stripped out head. I tried a few things but finally drilled it and used an extractor, but wound up breaking the carb body. So, I bought another set of carbs, but all four air screws are seized. I don't want to go...

'83 1100E - newer carbs with stock choke

I'm looking at some 36mm flatslide carbs from a GSXR 1100. Does anyone know if the stock choke cable with work with these carbs? Thanks

    Harness routing

I just re-did the harness on my '83. The main harness comes out from the left side of the frame, routes under the triple-clamp, then goes up on the right side of the frame into the headlight bucket. Hope this helps

    oem or aftermarket gaskets?

I agree. I've replace the stator cover, oil pan, and valve cover gaskets with my own that I made with stuff from pep boys, no problems

    Maintenance free batteries?

I just bought a Scorpion battery, and the instructions that came with it say to check the voltage. If it's under 12.6 volts, charge before using. If it's over 12.6, it does not need to be charged. Mine read 13.0 volts so I just ran it. I hope they're right!
