A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. GS1100ES project just getting started in Upstate NY

Hi Frank. Nice bike! Question. Do you have the center stand for the bike? Your first pic shows the bike leaning on the side stand, which would cause the starter gears to naturally fall out. If you can get the bike standing exactly straight up or a little to the right (braced of course), the...

    1984 Katana 7/11

Hi Pete! Been following your work a long time. Awesome workmanship! That stanchion should be repairable. I would try carefully filing the pit with the jagged edge with a good clean fine-toothed file, then fill the pittings with JB-Weld. Buff with 2000-grit where needed. This method worked on a...

    GS1327 Bigbore project

If the rim you're using has 6 cush drive rubbers, you can use the factory sprocket carrier which is about a quarter-inch narrower than the gsxr carrier. Also, at the risk of slightly off-centering the wheel, drop in a washer between the swingarm and the sprocket carrier. I'm on my 3rd gsxr...

    1980 gs1000g

Hi BluePlate I have the correct airbox for your bike, as I used to have an 80 1000g myself. The airbox didn't go with the bike when I sold it, so it's yours for the shipping if you want. I'm also selling 4 sets of GS1100(e) carbs on ebay --the set that will work on your bike has the number 2 in...

    Identify these Kawasaki twins

I would tag the one without the tank as a '78 KZ400A, and somebody added an LTD seat to it, the "B" had the front disc. The one with the tank and nice big seat is probably an '80 KZ440LTD, or possibly the KZ750 twin. The 400's are great cafe bikes; loads of parts available on fleabay

    GS1100G Cafe Racer

Nice to see a big shafty gettin' the cafe treatment! I looked at your post #123 and your forward shift bracket is off square to your shift rod. Set both forward and aft brackets square to the rod and it should shift fine, (you may have to lengthen the rod again) unless the problem is in the...

    1983 Suzuki GS1100ED --- "Big Boy"

Curly is right on the oil pressure switch. The idiot light on the dash for that switch is actually wired live on the positive side and switched on the neg. side (i.e. pressure switch). However, on that engine (82-83 yrs.) right next to the pressure switch there is a sending unit for the...

    Yoshimura GSX1135R (EFE) Project

I really enjoy watching your work on this bike. On your cabling issues, try adding 3/4"-to 1" of height to your bar risers and rotate the bars forward a bit. Might still be a comfortable position for you. Or perhaps swap in a GSXR throttle/switch setup--the cables can rotate in position. Or take...

Awesome Work!! I see you're running the original swingarm. Will the powdercoating work with the factory anodizing on it?

I'm rebuilding a set of Marzocchi shocks--the AG Strada's--does anyone know what weight oil is best and how much?

GS1100E born again into a Streetfighter

Supertrapps work very well with the Dynojet kits for your cv carbs. Don't know what you have for jetting on yours. I've used the Stage 1 jets on 3 of my 1100's so far, set the clips on the lowest rung on the needles (gets rid of the lean spot around 5-6k rpm, WOT). The supertrapps usually come...

Twinpot Brake upgrade on 78 Skunk

Don--Did you have to drill out your mounting holes on your rotors-if so, how much? Mine I had to go up to 7/16 in. and the bolts touch just the very outside of the new holes. The original lock/tab washers cover up the offset discrepancy.

Twinpot Brake upgrade on 78 Skunk

I used cbr900rr rotors and Ninja 600zx calipers--I believe 88-97 vintage(the calipers). Also the master cylinder from an 89 Ninja 600. The master cylinder and stainless brake lines by themselves will work the original calipers quite well--you're pushing quite a bit more fluid thru the...

Twinpot Brake upgrade on 78 Skunk

Salty--I have done twin-pot upgrade on my 81 GS1100e and got them to work very well . I may still have some pad alignment issues later. Do you still have any of those brackets left?

Mystery bike?.....hah-hah! It's an 81 with '79 GS750 rear rim (18 in.), '80 GS1000 front rim, the headlight from my '82 1100e (crashed-but not by me), and yes the Kawa twin-pot brake upgrade with cbr900 rotors, stops on that dime and hands me 9 cents change, Stage One kit and a canyon-barker of...
