A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    VIN/Engine #

In Minnesota, they ask for the engine number on a new title. I assume to cut down on stolen parts? If the bike is already titled in Fl. and he's re-titling it in Fl under a new name the engine number on file is somehow different than what he has now. Ask the clerk what the issue is. Tell them...

    82 GS1100E Mr Turbo Rebuild

Stainless exhaust scrubs up nice with red scotchbrite and WD-40. If your serious about a Cooley fairing, as mentioned Airtech makes nice ones( I have one) and reproduction mounts can be found in England/Europe. Maybe try/e-mail these guys. I had Triumph carbon fiber shipped here and shipping...

    scraped good enough?

I 2nd red Scotchbrite and WD-40 for a beautiful finish! Ive always used WD-40, fresh razor blades and a lot of patience on the gasket. VERY sparingly use YamahaBond #5 on the gasket.

    My Suzuki two stroke addiction...

I had the pleasure of driving a stock Canadian RD/RVZ500? way back. I'm driving it like a 4-stroke when all of a sudden it gets on the pipe. OMG! It was like ya hit the nitrous button. First bike to scare me. Your bikes are beautiful as is your collection. Most of us on this forum including...

    Product for tarnished metal

If you like ACF-50 on metal, wait until you use it on old oxidized handle bar switches. They will look like brand new. It's a must have on the "shop supplies" shelve. FYI, you can buy it by the gallon on Amazon, get a couple of friends and split it up. Much better price.

    How do I install LED turn signals/brake light/etc on my 1980 GS750

Maybe not pertinent to this thread but to others thinking of going to led headlights. There are full plug and play set ups for Harleys which have 7" lamps as do most of our GS's. This set works extremely well as the reflectors are set up for led bulbs. Sorry for the hijack, carry on.:tranquillity:

    Suzuki GS1000E intake rubbers sealant

Use sealants were you see fit, but when I use them I use Yamabond #5. Its a gasket sealer. It insures me absolutely no leaks. When I got back into my GS's, my race bike had been sitting for over 25 years. I had a home fuel petcock made to flow more fuel. I used a inner tube for gasket. When I...

    Daytona in the 80's

I paid $1995 for my 77 GS750, I think my GS1000S was $3600. I worked at the dealership at the time, it didnt sell for a couple weeks, I took a test ride and had to have it. Still do, but its been raced, crashed, bent and butchered. Took all the good stuff off it before I raced it, still have the...

    Daytona in the 80's

Daytona....We are road tripping. Literally. It was the 80's, gimme a break. We went to race. Go to practice, all went well. I was mid-pack, friend was up towards the front (by lap times) We were both running GS1000's. I only cared about beating the guys with all the money, he wanted to win...

Thoughts on using long air runners in place of pod filters

I correct myself. The air filter was only a foam uni-filter using OEM boxes. I know I have seen them, check E-bay but did not find any thing. If we measured yhe Intake size, I'm sure one could be found to be able to draw air from 1 source.

Thoughts on using long air runners in place of pod filters

We are using 2-strokes, 4-stroke engines as examples. For the purpose of trying help this member, 2 strokes are a different animal and not a good example in this instance. In my experience and of many others if your using CV carbs and pods your going to need a jet kit. There is no way to jet...

    crappy fix?

I put some oil on the gasket and let it soak at least overnight and the gasket softens right up. Use a brand new razor blade not in a handle or knife and go VERY gentle and slow. You can feel when it wants to dig in and just stop. Never had a problem. Keep in mind most cover gaskets from the...

Got a boo boo a few weeks ago

I use the lower triple clamp also, and also some where in the rear. All 4 straps pulling the same direction. I learned the hard way from track days too. Sorry to hear of the mishap. Nice ZRX.

    New Engine Break In Procedure

I agree with Chucks link and Nessim. 3 of my tech's who went on to work with Polaris and a major race team back that up and also mentioned high rpm decels and proper cool downs afterwards.

1100 Katana restomod with 1230 engine

I did the D & E modifications with no "X" braces with noticeable results. With a little fore thought it would be very easy to make side cover stays/mnts. I understand wanting to be able to go back to stock. As mentioned, every up grade to the bike will pronounce the "hinge in middle" effect...
