A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Winter fuel stabilizer

That's been my S.O.P. for years. I bring the fuel level as high as it can go without spilling. Never had a hint of corrosion in the fuel tank. Not necessary with the HondaPotamus, since its fuel tank plastic and of course doesn't corrode.

    Random Photo thread

Interesting! Maybe because they tend to transport their entire families on one motorcycle, a little carpeting makes it more comfortable. It looks like the Chinese manufacturers are basing their styling on the early '80's Honda Hawk, maybe. That's what comes to mind, anyway. They could do...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Cool! Looks even brighter orange than usual, with the light & color from the leaves reflecting off the bike.

    '87 Honda Magna 700 Carbs - thoughts?

Interesting. There was a period of time when I had a pretty serious itch for a V65 Sabre, the 1984 vintage, and they'll still turn my head. I suppose I'm glad I didn't learn this first-hand. In my case, I kept hearing about trans problems -- don't recall the exact malfunction. That's mainly...

    '87 Honda Magna 700 Carbs - thoughts?

I think step 1 would be finding a good or reasonable forum that covers that bike's engine. A quick Google pulls up a number of fora (plural?); you might find a good vein of info out there. No sense re-inventing the wheel. Edit: I know that a number of years ago -- maybe a kinda large number...

    Craigslist "funnies"

At least it should pull a nice tight turning circle, no more than a hundred feet or so.

Opinions on where to purchase mesh armored jacket?

Can't argue with that; in fact, the armor is pretty much the whole idea. The Olympias both come with CE-2 armor, which was a strong factor in my choice -- so I don't have to turn around and purchase more. I've been shopping for a while now, and the 'problem' has been the number of good solid...

Opinions on where to purchase mesh armored jacket?

It's finally time to retire the Joe Rocket Phoenix that I bought used for a song from our own TWR1776 a few years back. (The right elbow armor just didn't feel right; I reached in there and pulled out pieces of armor. That might explain it, I thought...). I've narrowed down my choice to an...

Leak behind Ignition Cover - How to Repair ?

Oil seal. 09283-22015. Use care removing the dead one. It's a little tight in there, and you don't want to scratch the crank, especially where it rides on the seal.

Well good! Glad to see you got in a little riding on the Bandit.

Is that one of the infamous "Killboy" photos? Did you hit the BRP?

Time for a Mini Volt Meter?GDMFr!!!

It's pretty surprising (and annoying) that modern bikes have so much gadgetry and electronics, but no voltmeter. I'd rather have a voltmeter than a gas gauge, actually. There are several ways I can be reasonably sure of my remaining fuel, but how do you guess when a stator's heading south...

    77 Honda CB750 SOHC, basket case?$400

Yeah, I've noticed that trend: If I photograph a motorcycle more than about seven times, it often winds up in my garage. Not always, but it's a good predictor... Looks like fun!

Flat car tire on a bike?

I'll try to find a video I watched a while back -- it was well-made, with (I'm guessing) a Go-Pro perfectly aimed at the rear tire of a Darksider putting the bike through various maneuvers. The tire's reaction to turning input was really interesting, and not what I expected to see. It's buried...

Flat car tire on a bike?

This is what's on the rear of my Goldwing. It's obviously a car tire, and it's a run-flat. I don't notice any trouble with handling or traction.

    GPS Speedometer-anyone have one?

I doubt there's a handlebar-mounted smartphone holder anywhere that would eliminate my apprehension about losing my phone at highway speed after a good hard bump. Not to say they aren't reliable, and would probably withstand much worse than what I would ever dish out; I would just never be at...

Feeler Gauge Wont Go Through Cam Lobes

Before you get rolling, I'd pull the shims (one at a time, of course) and measure them. Write down the measurements. It helps to be able to swap a shim from one valve to another as needed, but you'll also find your thinnest shim, which might -- MIGHT -- be thin enough to make measurements...

what did you wrench on today??

OK. Here: At Michael's, no less. Or Amazon, of course. No matter how oil-free I got the timing chain (acetone, alcohol) the paint didn't stick very well -- so I kept my mitts away from the marked link. It's possible, obviously, to just use the diagrams and double-check with the 16-pitch...
