A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

what did you wrench on today??

From time to time, even water-cooled guys have to get in there and wrestle with the intestines, and monsoon season is as good a time as any. These are the guts of a V-Strom. It's shim-under-bucket, so I had to pull all 4 cams (lucky me), but an oil-based paint pen made reassembly a little more...

    New addition to the family

Once in a while, a manufacturer really nails a product. The V-Strom is one such critter; Suzuki got so much right with this bike... I absolutely love mine. Just wheeling it out of the garage puts me in a better mood. I love the color of yours, and it looks like someone else was kind enough to...

    It's not here yet, ...

How cool! That looks like so much fun to ride. That specimen looks remarkably unadulterated. Perhaps look through ebay sold auctions, and there's bound to be forums (fora?) for these.

A couple drops of oil appear to be leaking from exhast tail pipe when sitting

Here's the only area of concern. I'd suggest: Set the valve clearances, perform routine maintenance, ride the bike another 10,000 miles, and just ignore the oil around that tailpipe.

Replace stator as a maintenance item?

I did the same. No evidence thereof. Except some photos that I'll never locate until I stumble upon them years from now. I brought the spare with me to Brown County, just in case. Even later, when I came on a Goldwing. Just in case. Odds are reasonable that it'll come in handy for somebody.

    Facebook Marketplace, the new CL???

I've nosed around in there -- sort of considering picking up a 'beater' vehicle. Maybe not, we'll see. Anyhow, it's fairly annoying that so many vehicle sellers list an absurdly low price, or put 'free'. Otherwise, it looks interesting. Lots of goodies in the home & garden areas, for...

A "thank you" to Robert Barr.

Thanks, I appreciate the comments! Standing offer for GSR -- For the rare occasion when someone needs the O-rings for those replacement inlet T's, you can just PM me for my address and send a SASE. We'll get ya fixed up, gratis. And/or, if you're ordering a kit, just mention it and I'll toss...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Short ride... off a short pier? You are very trusting of dock builders! I've heard that the dry spells we had damp down the color intensity for some reason.

    Shipping costs.

Anything outside the US can be eye-opening. I've had customers who INSISTED on tracking numbers to places like S. Africa, and the quotes weren't reasonable, or even sane. And that's to ship a nice, dry, lightweight packet of O-rings -- no fuel traces, no corrosives, nothing complicated...

    Honda CB700SC Nighthawk for sale

I had a pristine red '85 650sc for many years. Rode it to death, and loved it. If they started manufacturing them again, I'd buy one brand new. Extremely comfortable, reasonably quick with a change of disposition when pushed up beyond seven grand or so. Beautiful sounding engine. Almost no...

Having ignitor problems? Check your coils.

Yes, keep us up to date on that! Here's hoping for better luck.

Having ignitor problems? Check your coils.

Might be slight overkill, but these would fit up under there, I think. They list the dimensions.

New guy here from Asheville NC!

Nice! You have the BRP within minutes of you, a common destination of mine (from Chicago area). I travel a full day each direction just to reach your area, so in decent weather I'm envious. In rotten weather, I have to wonder how many of you folks even get out of your driveways, jeez, with...

What a Difference a Day Makes ... Another Bike in the Garage

Nice score! Someone (more likely several someones) has / have been taking good care of that bike for you. Thoughtful of them!

    Damn the leaves!

Wow, sorry to hear this! I hope the healing process picks up some steam. I tore up some ribs years ago, and I recall being unable to take a deep breath without extreme pain, and for quite a long time. Sheesh! I was a much younger sprout than I am now, too.

The new member of the stable - 1980 GS550E

The 550E was such a good-looking bike, and that's a prime example. Nice find!

Bicycling from CA. to MI. to pick up my 1982' GS450T then drive it back to CA.

That's truly low. Sorry to hear that some scumbag scrambled such ambitious plans, jeez. Well, keep us posted...

    Anything annoy you street riding?

Never. Even though my 2018 Mazda has all that hands-free garbage, it's never been used. The phone is off unless the car is parked somewhere safe.
  19. robertbarr

    Powersportsnation Ebay

Me three. I like how I get a little garden soil as a bonus.

    Anything annoy you street riding?

Yep, and it's become epidemic. Years back, drivers would give me elbow room, just out of respect for my vulnerability; now, I get the same respect they'd show a plumbing truck.
