DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Well, he is relatively young and he IS Canadian. :)

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Super interesting. I watched the whole damn thing. I am impressed with just how practical and well thought out the product is. Ten guys working in a dirt floor Quonset hut for a year produce a truck that outperforms what the major auto & truck makers have taken years to develop. Their secret...

But it is not just our officials. It is also the top scientists and engineers working in governments, major universities, and multi-national corporations around the globe that are sharing this quest and making contributions to advance it. Taken collectively I would tend to trust their...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

It looks like Honda is actually playing catch up in the swappable battery game. Kymco and others (mostly Asian others) are well along in their implementation. https://electrek.co/2023/11/13/how-kymco-hopes-to-change-the-game-for-swappable-battery-evs/ They are selling both the batteries and...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Yes, I knew this could be done but I am not at all certain it works at scale. Batteries in every vehicle would have to be mounted and connected in a specific way to match up with the swapper. Would that level of standardization even be possible much less likely across all makes and models of...

Which New Tires For 83 GS850?

They don't get a lot of love here on the forum but I have gotten good service from Dunlop 404s. You know what you are getting and they are available just about everywhere. They obviously aren't the latest tech but then neither are our GSs. And any tire you purchase today will be vastly...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Certainly true with today's battery technology. It will be interesting to see what options are presented as energy densities increase over time. But even if they achieve the density of gasoline the problem with cars and trucks would be how do you do the actual swap. You certainly could not...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Honda will be offering (not until 2025) an E scooter with two swappable batteries on board. This looks to be very close to what I had in mind for a daily errand runner. It would be charged by my home solar system meaning a great part if not most of my day to day transportation would happen free...

Interesting. The switch from chrome to painted in the U.S. was definitely 79-80. I bought the first '80 model to hit the dealership in Dec '79 and it already had the painted fender. .

From Grayson, GA to Midland, Tx and back on my GS850G

Mehall, thanks for sharing your adventure. If I could make one suggestion for improvement it would be.......paragraphs. I would be interested in how the long ride experience on your 850 compares to one on your RT. I had both for a time and would like to see how your thoughts compare to mine.

I read that article as well. I do not see any way China does not dominate the global passenger vehicle market eventually--within a decade would be my guess. When produced at scale in a basic configuration their EVs will be so much cheaper to buy and to maintain than anything the legacy western...
