DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Unlikely that your bike was initially registered on New Years Day seeing as how government offices would have been closed. The earliest release date I could find anywhere mentioned for the 850 was February, 1979. As of the the January, 1979 issue of Cycle World pricing for the new 850 had not...

    Gs850g

It may have been the case that the bike is an '80 model that originally sold in 1979 and somehow got titled for '79 in the process. Are the registration and the points ignition the only two things that say '1979' at this point?

That would explain the CV carbs and lack of a kickstart shaft. But it would have had electronic ignition, not points. That combination did not appear on any model or engine in the U.S. market AFIK. I do not know about Ireland or other markets. . Perhaps some pictures and provenance would...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Bob, if you ever do take any emoto test rides I would be very interested in where the center of gravity feels to be. As my numerous damaged and non oem body parts age I find myself much more aware than I used to be when I have to push bikes around or (grimace) pick them up. The Electric...

The participants outdid themselves this week. Some really great pictures. The theme is Clouds and that is what fills the frame in Rich's shot. It get's my vote.

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

Electric powered cycles already outsell ICE motorcycles by a large amount in the U.S. Most of them just happen to be a little slower and with less range than we here on this website are used to. In 2021, the last year for which I could find published numbers for both, 880,000 or so electric...

When do you expect ev bikes to become practical road bikes.

I am not aware of any pending legislation that will require everyone to immediately get rid of their ICE vehicles and buy EV. But that is the scenario I see being addressed by most of the EV critics I see posting on this and other websites. The transition to electric powered transportation is a...

The last non bot related post on this thread was over seven years ago. I am going to close it for new posts. But if increased bot posts state popping up in other threads I may reopen it. It makes monitoring easier if all the bot posts go to one obscure honey pot thread. There seems to be a...

Precisely my experience. I have put up pics that I was so sure would win that I had already worked up the next week's theme. Not a single vote. :-s : And there were times I grabbed something from my archives at the last minute just to support the game and won going away. If you are looking...

I personally am waiting for the prices to come down a bit more and the ranges to go up a bit more to buy an EV motorcycle or scooter. But it is definitely on my to-do list. I recently went full solar for my home and I look forward to doing all or most of my local travel without gasoline or...

    gs1000g flat spot

Thanks, Ed, for (sort of) confirming my suspicions. I went over the air box & filter back when we were sorting the carbs. In the past when I have had air intake issues they weren't restricted to a narrow rpm range. I could usually tell right at idle. I am going with the electrical/ignition...

    gs1000g flat spot

Ed is there any chance his problem could be firing related? Even after all the work we did on those carbs you squared away for me I still had this small flat spot around the 3700-4100 rpm range, not enough to interrupt my ride but there. It got worse and I tried a little experiment. I went...
