DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Rev Counter - needle slow to return / stuck

Lube it and all the others too! You can go budget by cutting the corner of a ziplock bag, put the cable through hole then seal up bag/cable entry area with a rubber band. Put lubricant in bag hang it with bag on top and let gravity work the oil through.

    whats your favorite GS?

83 GS750ES. By my eyes, one of the nicest looking metric bikes ever. Nice curves like the GF. If I ever get off my dead arse, I plan on a resto mod version of this bike using a GS1100E and that paint scheme. Nicest one I ever rode? My 79 GS1000S. You could drive all day on it with ergo's...

Tips/Tricks/Advise for first long road trip

TourMaster has nice rain suits, bags, tank bag at a decent prices. As mentioned, get your butt ready. At the beginning of the year my Versys seat sucked. By the end of the year it seemed fine. Look at your stock tool kit. They have most of the proper sizes, just low quality. Bring the same ones...

Has anybody ever had their GS1100GL (or other 8V) head ported?

Yes they are but why change them? If someone does it improperly it could get worse. Unless your doing cams, carbs, pipes ect, your best off spending time, money elsewhere.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Been going on small rides as a diversion to dad being in hospice. Worked well. Sorry to say dad passed and a small celebration of his life was Friday. Dad would not go riding with me, always figured it would kill me. Came close once. So last Wed I packed dad in his Urn into the trunk of my bike...

Another sign of what is ahead for the motorcycle hobby...

As an ex-service manager in the mc biz, old tranny should be fully covered and the repared version would be covered by the balance of the remaining warranty period.

Has anyone tried this ADV monster H4R2 LED headlight?

Its also what I found in my Versys. Led's need proper reflectors. When changed from a halogen to an Led the light was in the sighs, trees, poor. Dialed it down focused the light in front of me and the new found whiteness/brightness on low beam was able to give me a pattern were I'm not over...

Another sign of what is ahead for the motorcycle hobby...

Dealers don't carry parts because of the new business principals of running "lean". If they can't sell the part 4 times per year they don't stock it. Younger generation doesn't enjoy the freedom of riding like the older gen does and the bikes made for us who still ride look like a vehicle from...

    Sorry, my mistake. 1100E Carbs= 7.7lbs GSXR1100 carbs= 4.5lbs or 3.2lb weight savings.
