A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    GS(X)1100ESD Long term project.....

Spent what I would call an unproductive day on the project. I went through al my GS/GSX spares boxes, trays and tubs seeing what I have in stock. Sorted through 6 plastic boxes of bolts, washers and nuts to find a few that fitted and were missing. Labelled up a lot of the old used spares too...

    GS(X)1100ESD Long term project.....

When I say scrap pile, it means of no use to me or unwanted by me. The only damage I can see is a few small scrapes from where the sprocket was clipping it with the seized spacer and wheel spindle and the PO has cut one of the retaining bolts to free the cams so the remaining bolt will need to...

    GS(X)1100ESD Long term project.....

So far I have a quick look around her. Removed the foot rests to find that somebody has decided to chop the gear change pivot stud off the frame. That will need more equipment that I have here to solve. An issue to get around. Another issue is that one of the PO?s has fitted stainless...

    GS(X)1100ESD Long term project.....

I'm a standard guy so for me the JMC is already off the bike and consigned to the scrap bin. Now the hunt for an ESD swinging arm.

    GS(X)1100ESD Long term project.....

You know that time when you have done it all and the only thing that will change your mind is if your old bike re-appeared you’d just have to buy it back? Well I’m in that place. In 1986 or was it 1987 I sold my GS(X) 1100ESD and let her go. About 11,000 miles on the clock and in good...

    1980 GS1000ET back from the dead.....I hope.

Last Thursday bike went to the Testers and passed with no oil leaks or issues. She didn't sound like she was on all four cylinders and on the ride home she dropped onto two from the sound. Swapped plugs out on the friday and got her back on all 4 and rode her over to londonboards garage for him...

    GS(X)1100ESD Anti Dive units

I know a lot of people used to remove them and put a blanking plate over the holes and drop the extra brake line and go back to a single bolt..... My GS(X)1100ESD still has the original Anti Dive system hooked up. Has anyone ever been inside them and are there any serviceable parts such as...

    1980 GS1000ET back from the dead.....I hope.

Been a little busy with various bikes but Friday was a monumental day. My GS(X)1100ESD and the GS1000E out in the sunshine for the first time in over 10 years. They don't look to bad. She polished up alright in the end. Friday I had all five of my bikes out and had all five start and...

Good idea HH but sadly the damage is too much for it to go back in. I'd PM you and explain more but your inbox is full.

    Pilot Needle jets......

Thanks HH. The issue is finding one so I can replace like for like. That is where I need the GS resources help to find one if at all possible. Looks like they only come out of GS/GSX1100 carbs.

    Pilot Needle jets......

Thanks EDGECRUSHER. Yes, they are not listed on the fiches for this model and also the GS1000 fiche I have yet people seem to find them. Its a 1983/84 model only made for that one year and then dropped. People didnt like the style of it I suppose. It is very possible that somebody else has...

    If not jetting, then what?

I've just shoved a set of carbs through an ultrasonic cleaner. First time ever for me. As I couldnt get No 1 needle out I cleaned it anyway. When I look down through there 2 and 4 appear to be a larger hole, no3 is smaller and No 1 I can hardly see down through it. Maybe, and only as a maybe...

    Pilot Needle jets......

OK. This is a discussion, not a 'I know, I'm the expert' sort of question and definateley not a chuck your toys out of a pram thread! Ground rules out the way here goes. Mikumi BS34SS carbs. I had pulled my GS1000 carbs and Londonboards had kindly stripped, ultrasonically cleaned them plus...

Todays one of those days when you wonder why you ride and fix classic bikes. One step forwards, two steps back. Not going to moan or explain, just say that the last 3 days havent gone well.

    1980 GS1000ET back from the dead.....I hope.

Does anyone have the length of the inner and outer cable of a GS1000E throttle cable please? I'm told its part number 58300-44232 that is only available. Copies are no numbered and are only given in sizes so the outer is 38 and 3/16th long with the inner cable being 42 and 1/8th.

    1980 GS1000ET back from the dead.....I hope.

I didn't change the route of the cable, just unclipped the carb end when I took the carbs out. I have since loosened the throttle end off so there is as much slack as possible which is nothing. Cable comes from the throttle, round the right fork leg upper and down the right side frame. Over...

Carbs back in. Choke went on OK but the throttle cable was a so and so. Had to pull the carbs slightly off to get the cable back on. Hooked up a reserve tank and ran the bike. Yeah!!!!! She fired up second spin of the starter and ran on all 4 cylinders!!!!!! YES, YES, YES..... pumps the air...
