DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    GS1000G Rear Master Cylinder replacement

It probably interchanges with lots of Suzukis of various vintage. Find a part number on a parts vendor's site, then find on the same site a tool for looking up part numbers. It'll give you a list of bikes the same part is used on. I doubt you'll find a part number for a complete master, but a...

    Disposal of gas/oil mix

Well, The good news is that not as much got into the crankcase as I had feared. I got about 6 quarts of mystery mix out of it. The rest of it must have spilled over the back of the engine. Yes, it was a mess. If I can't track down an appropriate disposal for the whole mess, I think I could just...

    Disposal of gas/oil mix

This kind of thinking parallels my misgivings about putting it through the cars. I don't know if we have a regular transfer station available to the public here in Mason, but Rumpke will probably have some advice if I give up on trying to run the bike on it. I do kind of like the idea of...

    Disposal of gas/oil mix

AutoZone sometimes asks me if it's just oil. Maybe I had a guilty look on my face when I knew there was a bunch of brake fluid in there. I had thought about feeding it back to the bike, maybe gallon at a time. I'd rather run it through the bike's simple system than the more complex stuff in the...

    Random Photo thread

That is very cool stuff. I guess you get to see a lot of that kind of thing while out fishing.

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I wouldn't have put it on the side stand either.

    Disposal of gas/oil mix

Not sure this is the right place, but it's the closest fit I could find: So. Several weeks ago I finished changing the steering bearings on my 1000G for the second time. (Only about 30,000 miles. They are definitely lubed this time). I put it all back together, but couldn't get out for a ride...

    "How to" repack speedometer drive

I know this is a zombie thread, but.... I've taken the driven shaft out before, but on this one it won't budge for some reason. So I'm glad to find this thread and the pictorial showing how the drive gear can be removed in those cases.

    GS1100G_anybody made rearsets?

Now that is right up my alley. Like Bill, I've been thinking about this for a decade. Do you have pics? I'm curious what kinds of fabricobling might be required. Edit: OK, I did some googling. It looks like what's need is a flat or nearly flat plate to adapt from the stock peg mounts to the...

    Headlight coverage

Anything mounted on the bike will just be more light doing what you headlight already does, like Steve said. You could put something on a camera gimbal to keep it level, but it'll still only point forward. The Baja 1000 riders mount an ultrabright LED on their chin or cheeks. Of course, with a...

Cincinnati OH to Maryville TN route suggestions

That sounds like a good idea. Now, I'm no authority on north kentucky roads, but I might suggest adjusting the very earliest part off that trip to take 22 into Falmouth, and maybe past it. But then, it's hard to go wrong around there

    Cotter Pin Installation

Yer talkin' sense here... So long as it can't fall out or rip your shin open, it's good. I need to do a conversion to those. I don't know why I haven't thought of it yet. Especially when they're securing a service part. I've also heard them called "R clips", but I doubt you'll find that in...

    Are EMGO bars any good?

I've never done any of that and I've never had a hint of slipping. I couldn't move them on purpose. Maybe it wasn't a GS, or it was some kind of off-roading?

My Blue Ridge Parkway Ride 2016

Good point. That might have been nearly a week. Lemme see here... Travel to BRP BRP split off, BRP etc. (turned left at Little Switzerland) to brothers's house Travel to Deal's Gap to meet criddle & friend whose name I forgot (he rode a Monster) Deal's Gap, Cherahola, etc. ride home. Well...

That should be a nice leisurely trip. I've never spent a week on the bike. I should try that someday. (Next year for sure.)

    Starter started spinnin free ...

Also, overrevving makes for a lot of centrifugal force that forces spacers, springs, etc. out of the starter clutch through it's outer shell. A good TIG welder can repair that.

1st Ever Track Day @ 55yrs and 345 days old.

Pretty bike! I didn't know that tank would fit on the 8V frame. The case guards look like they're using up a lot of cornering clearance. Mine are much more conformal to the covers, and I can get the bike over to about 45?, as you can now see in the Gingerman thread. BTW, I'm jealous. Brand's Hatch!

Shift light who uses one and where did you get yours?

I haven't tried a shift light yet, but I'm thinking the correct configuration should be to have the light visible in your peripheral vision and not need to use focused vision. Just like we should train ourselves to use peripheral vision to monitor obstacles and lane position in the near field...
