A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. 82 gs450txz - new front tire rubs fender

yea, thanks fellas. I bought another tire. maybe i can sell the other one on craigslist or something. i slightly considered sanding down the tire but I was really not inclined to try my luck with modifying the actual rubber ... now that I know i can get the 90/90 tire that the bike wants, i'm...

82 gs450txz - new front tire rubs fender

dang. you're right. when i bought tires a couple of months ago, they were out of stock of everything. I took it as a sign that they were not gonna make exact tires for old bikes anymore. The tires that were installed from the previous owner were bridgestone 100/90's and they fit. but who knows...

82 gs450txz - new front tire rubs fender

there's only one tire i could buy that will fit this bike. the manual recommends 90/90-19, the only tire you can get is 100/90-19. The tire is called Durotour RS-310F. now i've found that the tire doesn't quite fit under the fender. I don't want to run with no fender, but I can't see any simple...

    My 1982 GS 450 - journal thread

Alright, did some work on the bike today. She's been lying on her belly for over a month now. But I finally got the wheels back on! She's a roller again! I managed to get it back up on the center stand by tipping her over onto a stack of pillows and tipping it back up onto a floor jack...

    cruzin image gaskets?

well, i'll be honest, i f'd it up trying to drill it out. i'm to the point where the head probably will have to come off to fix it - someone will have to probably put it in a bench press and use a diamond bit. then probably helicoil it. My mind goes to, would it be possible to smear some red rtv...

    cruzin image gaskets?

well let me ask you guys this, if anybody knows: when the engine runs, is there a lot of air pressure inside the cam cover?

    cruzin image gaskets?

well i'm rethinking this idea. i think what i'm gonna do is give up on this bolt. I don't have the tools to take care of it. I don't want to rip open a perfectly good head gasket. I'm gonna get everything else fixed up on the bike and deal with oil leaks from that corner of the cam cover. then...

    cruzin image gaskets?

how do you guys feel about cruzin image stuff? any experience? i'm gonna have to take the head off to drill out a valve cover bolt that broke off. oem head gaskets are 100 bucks, on ebay and even partzilla. meanwhile an entire cruzin image repro gasket set is 50. a whole top end set is 30...

before i lose it again. carb o-ring sizes on a bs34ss "For your emulsion tube, you need a 1.1mm x 3.1mm (cross section by ID). I've tried O-rings that were extremely close, and they would not get the job done. I've seen this O-ring available at parts outlets like Beach Blvd. The Suzuki part...

    My 1982 GS 450 - journal thread

project journal - valve day Tonight I cracked open the valve cover. Unfortunately i have a bolt that is rusted into the head and broken off, fortunately it's sticking a few mm out of the head, enough to grab hold of it with vice grips. I'm leaving it alone for now. it's very stuck. Tomorrow...

    My 1982 GS 450 - journal thread

today's journal - took the wheels off. There's only one brand of road tires that fits this bike's specs now, unfortunately. at least that I could find. 90 90 19 & 110 90 17. I could get some adv tires that are close... 120 rears. There's some knobbies too but that's it. Guess I'm getting some of...

hm interesting, all the pictures i've seen show a solid metal tip on the needle. my petcock is stuck in the run position, i'm slightly afraid to force it because i've heard that some ppl have torn their petcock diaphragm this way ... but regardless, the tank did release fuel when i turned the...
