A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Vance Hines Exhaust

Okay, I?ve got some of the material, but I could not manage to get the baffle out. Seemed like you?d just take the bolt out of the side and slide, but mine won?t budge. Any suggestions? (It?s not real loud, but it?s been on the bike about eight years and it?s louder now than I?d like.)

    stainless line installation

Hmmmm....ya know, I have a spare set of front calipers. Maybe I should clean, rebuild, add new pads, etc. at my leisure and have the whole set ready????

    stainless line installation

So, one day in the near future, I dream of having a little time to install front stainless brake lines. I bought the set used quite awhile back from someone and it looks fine. So, is this a reasonable approach??remove the fluid through the bleeder valve, remove all existing hoses, hook up...

    Stanless bolts - anti-seize??

Damn, you guys are quick. Thanks. I've been missing a bolt on the right side for 8 years (I bought it that way). I've always meant to get a replacement from Bike Bandit, but it occurred to me that this would be a better approach. Should look better, too, though anyone who's seen my bike (any...

    Stanless bolts - anti-seize??

I just ordered a set of stainless bolts from Z1Enterprises (which showed up in two days, because, because?.well?Z1Enterprises is da bomb). I?m just going to slowly install these a few at a time. I know I need to coat them with anti-seize,but?.what do I use? What?s the recommended stuff? I...

    pod filters

Ummmm???no (I think that would be the general consensus). There are a lot of folks here that swear by stock, but I even had K&N pods on Bonnevilles and my Commando. Maybe I just like the intake sound, but I like pods and headers. But definitely, don?t go with the cheap ones, especially foam ...

    changing chain and spockets

Jesus, I can?t believe I?m asking this question. Job?s done and everything?s working smoothly, but I?m second-guessing here. When I ordered everything from Rob/Jeff at Z1, I got the sprockets, link, chain and spacer. I installed the spacer between the engine and the sprocket ? it seemed like...

Getting ready for valve adjustment, stator & RR replacement

I have a Park Tool in/lb torque wrench that I bought from Performance Bicycle. It was about $35 and works great. http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/TopCategories_10052_10551_-1 They have two and I'm not sure which one mine is.

    Please help support this site!

And of course, I screwed up by not adding the paypal fee, so they'll get an odd amount from - sorry about the whole math pain thing.

    changing chain and spockets

BTW, I used the clip-style master. Some folks think they're horrible. I had one on the last 24K chain and I've probably never had anything but a clip-style master.........is there an actual issue with these, or are people being overly paranoid?

    changing chain and spockets

No. I'm guessing that would've been wise though, eh? I was amazed at the condition of the old sprockets. After 24,000 miles, there was absolutely no discernable change in the shape of the teeth. Had I been using another 630, I probably would've reused the sprockets.

    changing chain and spockets

Yes?..and thanks to all. I even bought a 32mm impact socket and everything. A couple tries on the nut and it spun right off. Then back to carpentry. Late yesterday, I put on the master link, put everything back together and reasonably in line and this morning, it was sweet. No more noisy...

    Sources for sprockets & chains

I just got my stuff through Z!Enterprises, partly because my brother swore by them when he had a KZ - I think he still buys some stuff there for the ZRX. Jeff Saunders is the Z1Ent. guy and a GSR member. He's incredibly helpful. I didn't pay much, maybe $160 for chain, sprockets and adaptor...

    changing chain and spockets

I considered Harbor Freight. There?s one on the west side, but I?ve never been there. My problem on all this stuff is time. I?ll take my daughter swimming right after dinner tonight (I promised) and we?ll stop by Farm & Fleet. They usually have a pretty good selection of tools, but if it?s...

The wallet buys too much land. I've got a compressor. I like buying tools, so I'm after a 1/2" impact wrench tonight.

I guess I'm pretty pumped up, since I snapped the ratchet in half. I'm a pretty strong old guy - not the strongest, but not bad.

    changing chain and spockets

Excellent.....I don't see changing occupations in my near future. Even though I've had this urge the past few years to do my own work on the bike (mostly from seeing the incredible work people here have done), I'm a little late to decide it's a 'calling.'
  20. B

    changing chain and spockets

Not really - everyone I know here just takes their bikes to Bill's. I don't mind buying a tool, though, and I think I can manage with a 1/2" - a cheap one. I assume I have to buy a socket specifically for the wrench (rather than just use my own 32mm).
