    A note to old forum members...
    I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

    Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

    Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

    If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

    If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Now i have spark so i did something right . Im not sure what order the plug leads go from each coil . Sitting on the bike would it be from the left side 1 3 4 2

    Well that was fun :rolleyes: . Tried so many ways to get the old r/r to work but no luck . Put a new 5 wire r/r and it cranking over lovely :D The old wiring loop has been cut out .

    Thanks ... dont know what ive done but all im getting now is a click click from the starter solenoid and battery seems to be getting too warm . Im going to strip it all and start again DOH !

    I do have a brand new spare r/r with 3 yellow 1 red and 1 black so can try that if all else fails . Got all the wiring connected up loosely yesterday but battery was flat . A test for spark today to see if its working . I was getting some strange popping and backfire before this wiring escapade...

    I had to reconnect the big red wire running up to the handlebars because when it was disconnected the starter button would not work . Ive just rebuilt the carbs again and had fun removing a broken off air screw tip that had found a new home in the seat :(

    It does look like that red wire is greenish in the core so will disconnect that and tape up and see what happens . I like a challenge .,,, just as well as 2 float bowls have overflowed :dispirited:

    Ok thats how i have connected it but there is just one more Red wire connected to the Red/White wire running up the loom to the front of the bike . should that be connected to the r/r ?

    Do i use all the 6 wires once the loop has been bypassed . Could someone confirm where to connect - 3 Yellow 1 Black 1 White/Red 1 Brown

    Hi everyone . I have a 6 wire r/r , there is 3 Yellow which i have located where they go . 86 GS850G One Black wire One Red/White wire One Brown wire ??? Its not listed on any wiring diagrams ??? Any ideas please ?

    Evening all , still no joy . Bike fires then dies ..... Still dry plugs . All 4 float bowls are full so from the carb to the cylinders something is stopping fuel getting there ? Ive just read that running a fuel filter affects the fuel flow ? I have a filter inline. Do the air flow ( vent)...

    what did you wrench on today??

    I popped the fork seal covers off the tubes and released a bunch of water out the right hand side one . After cleaning both im going to need to replace everything but it was only water dripping not oil out of the cover . The retainer clips are in a bad way though and the covers have split .

    Front brake caliper cleaning and dismantling . The old brake fluid had all gone gooey with blocked lines . Managed to save the seals though .
