A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Shout out to Brian (BWRINGER)

Dang! Didn't expect to find a public shout-out when I logged in tonight. You're very welcome, Ben. It'll be interesting to see how long it takes for the goodies to make it to your end of the planet.

Front OEM shock spring specs for '79 GS850G

Looking at an application list, I'm pretty sure those Progressive springs (if you have a set of 11-1145 springs) are intended for much larger forks with a 41mm outside diameter (for example, they fit most years of the SV650). Your bike's forks have a 37mm OD, so they'll need much skinnier...

    Wheel Runout

Is the wheel bent or damaged somehow, or are the bearings just wobbly? The latter, bad bearings, is a straightforward fix. These early cast wheels were IMMENSELY overbuilt, almost comically strong... and heavy. I can't recall even hearing about a bent cast GS wheel that wasn't in a...

    Decoding part number

Usually the two numbers after the dash seems to indicate the nominal ID in Suzuki o-ring part numbers. For example: 09280-21013 09280 indicates a "normal" nitrile o-ring, used for oil sealing all over Suzukis. the -21 indicates it's 21mm ID. Same for an o-ring with the number 09280-06005 -...

    Looking good! New GSX 8tt

Yeah, the manufacturers assume that all buyers want that super-stubby solo seat look. So they have to add ridiculous stalks to put the plate and lights where they belong, and some bikes get "possum scrapers" to meet rear fender regs, all painted black in hopes you don't notice them somehow...

    Looking good! New GSX 8tt

When you see a GSX-8S in person, the pointy fairing cheeks and headlight fangs are super-duper extra weird. Very, very strange indeed. They're just... there. No reason, nothing inside. Just sort of stabby and spidery looking, and not in a cool way. The TT looks great, although I may be strange...

Save the Date: 2026 Brown County Indiana Rally - June 11-14, 2026

Fall Farmington Ride - aka: Dave Davis Memorial Ride

Fantastic riding with an amazing crowd! The unlooked-for, un-predicted, and pretty much entirely astonishing pop-up thunderstorm on Saturday was also not exactly un-welcome. It felt mighty refreshing on a very hot, humid day. We could have done without the coating of wet leaves on C, though...

Is there such a thing as a cheap Beemer?

Thanks for telling your sad tale, Dave. The moral of the story is that you have to be SUPER careful and do a lot of research before buying a BMW. The final drive issues in the early 2000s were no joke, and stranded a lot of riders. Including Dave. Twice. Quite a few were injured, too, and I've...

    10 years after

Nice work on the valve tipping; let us know how it goes. Some of these higher-mileage engines are getting into the 2.40 and below shims, and the smaller shims are getting harder to find. OEM shims were available down to 2.15 (I have one as a test shim for zero clearance situations), but stocks...

What are the most beautiful GS models? Aesthetic questions

You're not wrong; those 450s were distinctive and stunning. A 450 in decent shape really does turn heads. I'll also agree the G shafties were quite handsome, and not just because I'm biased. Once in a while I'll remove the rear rack and trunk from mine temporarily and end up looking at it an...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Illinois is just under two miles, and Ridge Motorsports Park is just under 2.5. In seven 20 minute sessions at BFR, I see about 75 miles on my trip odo at the end of the day. I suspect it's a bit more at Ridge, especially with no chicane and higher speeds on the front...

Why does intake leak cause hanging high idle ?

The simplest way to think of it is that an air leak simulates opening the throttle just a bit. Or, the engine is seeing more flow and "thinks" the throttle is still open, but the carbs don't so they're not supplying any more fuel and you end up with a lean condition. The lean condition is a...

Any LEOs or DMV people here

This is a reminder that the 50 state DMVs (and BMVs, etc.) are 50 separate fiefdoms that loathe and rabidly mistrust each other (and you) and each has their own bizarre and completely different sets of rules, regulations, as well as practices, customs, and unwritten rules that have nothing to do...

    2025 Brown County GS Rally - June 19 - 22

One reminder, folks: please make sure you leave positive five-star reviews for the Rosemount on Google (or Yelp, TripAdvisor, Hotels.com, Booking.com, etc.) if you haven't done so already. If you've left a review in the past, Google might ask you to update your review, or ask questions to...

    Tires Online

Yup, American Moto Tire has been the winner for me most of the time. Just bought a set of Bridgestone BT46 for the GS, and their pricing was $80 less than Revzilla and a few others. Also, Bridgestone has a $60 rebate through the end of June...
