A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

I never liked the prominant radiator

The CX V-Twins had very prominent radiators as well. My brother owned two (a 500 custom and 650 Silverwing). I never really thought they detracted from the bikes' appearance. CX500 Custom GL650 Silverwing

    Craigslist "funnies"

Translation: "This bike is unrideable, but I paid lot of money for it because "caf? racers" were a hip thing for a minute or two. All of my money is tied up in it, and I need to unload this expensive doo-dad on someone with more money and less sense than me."

    Stock '82, '83 bar ends

Rob, Up through 1982, Suzuki didn't include bar end weights (Suzuki calls them "balancers") on the GS models. Starting in 1983, they changed the grip style and added balamcers to many models. There were four different OEM styles, in three different weights. The shaft driven bikes had a...

Excellent Ebay Deal on 530 O-Ring Drive Chains

I needed one 115 link chain, a 112, a 108 and a 100. I bought his last four 112 link chains. This worked out perfectly for me. I can even take a few links off the chain I'll be using for the 115 application, and put the extra 12 links from the 100 on it to get some extra space between the...

82 GS750E on bikes and Beards YT Channel

My thoughts exactly. Nearly unwatchable. Had it not been one of my favorite bikes of all time, I'd have turned it off after the first three or four minutes. We've turned into curmudgeons my friend. Where did the time go?

Excellent Ebay Deal on 530 O-Ring Drive Chains

I've bought four of them, they are N.O.S. with both a clip and rivet type master link. These are older O-Ring style (not newer X-Ring), but the only difference you'll notice when you install one is that it is a little stiffer than an X-Ring. Durability is equal to the X-Ring style. Half the...

    Brake Line Question

Other than making your own brake lines (Nessism has an excellent tutorial on this, search for it), the best way I've found to get new brake lines is to take my existing ones to a local shop and have them made there. This is the safest way if you've changed the handlebars and need a shorter (or...

"Black Sheep" 81 GS550L EFI conversion

L models did. Tim's GS 850GL still had the original tires on it the first time he showed up at a rally, with raised white letter Dunlop Qualifiers on it. Just looked at the picture today. A lot of the "Custom", "Special", and "Limited" models from all four manufacturers came with raised...

"Black Sheep" 81 GS550L EFI conversion

Assuming you are successful in getting it running again, I have three words of advice: GET NEW TIRES!!!!!!! Those look to be the original tires still on the bike. Ten years ago I picked up a 550L with similar mileage and identical tires on it. The seller (giver, actually) was the original...

    Best Parts websites?

I like Partzilla because I own old Kawasakis, and for some reason, they are the only supplier that has the parts fiches for the old Kaws on their website. Pricing is competitive, and my order pretty much always ships complete in 3-4 days. Free shipping on parts orders over $149 too.

    GS450T Value?

Around here, the little bikes don't bring anything. People buy them to learn on, then sell them the next year and buy a Harley, or maybe a used metric cruiser. If it will start right up and run ok, then maybe $800 in central Indiana. If not, then considerably less than that. Most potential...

POLL: Easiest GS model to work on is...

Big shafties, no contest. The GS550/650 models are too cramped behind the cylinders. I absolutely hate the GS750/1000/1100 airbox/battery setup. The monoshock 550/700/750/1150 models are also too crowded behind the cylinders.
