A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Hot Stator Wires

I originally had measured the stator lead resistance phase to phase and to ground. I also measured VAC phase to phase and to ground. All tested good. If I remember correctly, if you measure leg to ground that means you have insulation breakdown. Unfortunately I'm retired now and don't have...

Well it looks like my stator is bad. I don't know if it was the new R/R or I missed something before. 2 legs to ground read ~25.0 VAC and one leg reads ~16.0 VAC to ground. So who do I order a stator from?

    Hot Stator Wires

Yes after the cleanup. I was so *@%^$*@%^$*@%^$*@%^$ed that I didn't feel around anymore at that time. Since then I've only ran the bike for very short times as I went back over things one at a time. Wow. Didn't know that was a bad word.

We met in person and completed the sale. He canceled the listing. So I have no recourse. Maybe he knew something.

    Hot Stator Wires

I tied all 3 legs to the stator. I know that heat is caused by current flowing through resistance. I went through the connectors checking and cleaning them with Deoxit. I then applied dielectric grease. I've measured resistance AND voltage drop through the connectors. I haven’t checked the...

    Hot Stator Wires

Please bear with me as this is the 1st time I have used a forum. I just picked up a 1982 GS1100GZ off of ebay. I was giving it a going over before riding it and noticed that it was charging at about low 13 VDC at the battery @ 5K rpm. PO told me that he replaced the battery and that's all he...
