A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

anyone go for a ride today? Pics?

I had 4 1/2 days off and the weather is mild enough to ride. I got out wednesday at noon for a long ride and went out to the pub that night. Ended up catching a cold at the crowded pub and the rest of the weekend spent on the couch in misery.

Help! Oil Pan Continues to Leak, Need some advise on next steps

Partzilla lists the gasket as discontinued. I've been using them for genuine parts but the Suzuki dealer network can locate one and you can buy it from that dealer shipped. If it is a discontinued gasket, it looks simple enough to make yourself out of brand name gasket stock from a good auto...

Help! Oil Pan Continues to Leak, Need some advise on next steps

Try some machinists non drying Dykem to see if the pan mates evenly to the case. Apply an even coat all around and lightly torque the screws. Remove the pan and you can see the witness marks from the dye. Also a .001 or .002 feeler gage all around will pick up high marks. An auto machinist could...

1982 GS1100G Tach Gear Seal Holder Removal

I think it came down to twisting out to follow the slight twist of the gear teeth on the shaft. No leaks now. Off subject but I didnt know I have self cancelling turn signals until I was just browsing thru the service manual.

    '77 GS750 engine noise

Could be excessive valve clearances, cam chain tension, loose parts rattling. Ive chased noises down to being loose rear brake tie bars, side stand, motor mount bolts and muffler brackets before.

2023 John McGinness Special Honda Fireblade

I'm really tempted by the 2022 GSX-S 1000 in matte blue. At 12k, its alot of bang for the buck.

    My new 1982 GS1100G

I put a low rise bar on it and the cable has nowhere to go except over the ignition switch. I have it routed as best possible. I just found this cable on ebay that has a bendy. With the bendy, the cable can be routed thru the triple tree a little lower where there is room for it. Should be here...

    My new 1982 GS1100G

I can buy one and try, they are cheap enough. If not long enough, I can make a bendy that would go into the lever perch and send the cable straight down away from the gauges. I would have to braze a new knarp on the cable.

    Comparing a GS650 to GS850, 750, 550 etc…

From the few specs I've compared, the L has the same HP as its counterpart. You could make some mods that would make an L more sportier but it will cost the equivalent of the difference of a G or E. You probably won't reclaim that expense if you went to sell it. If you found an L that was...

    Comparing a GS650 to GS850, 750, 550 etc…

I've always liked the Suzuki fours, I recently picked up a GS1100G. I've seen a few 650s for sale that were pretty inexpensive. One in Old Saybrook now for $650. I would have grabbed one but since I have an Enfield 650, I thought I should broaden the herd. You cant go wrong with either. I was...

    GS1100G Drain Plug Washer

Thanks for the replies. It hasn't leaked overnight, but next change I will see if I can remove it and replace it. I could put it in a collet on a lathe and cut it down enough to pull it out.
