A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Harley Davidson Pan America, whatcha think?

I live in the country. A fellow pulled in last year on a Buell, actually coasted in. He asked if he could wait in his driveway for his brother to come with his trailer, as it had quit on him. He only lives about 20 miles away and I offered to trailer it home for him. He declined as his brother...

    Charging system help

"That is what the main fuse is for." I am not unfused in the end, then, am I? Is my 12 gauge wire going to get that hot and the main fuse doesn't blow with all that?

    Charging system help

Let me correct myself. I have never used a fuse in the feed wire from the R/R to the battery. I've also never had any problem with that. A lot of stuff I have done over the years was chopperesque & custom. The wiring from GM alternators has no fuse back to the battery, I've used a lot of those...

    Charging system help

I got an Ebay Caltric, about 35 bucks. Works fine. I cannot remember ever personally seeing an alternator feed wire back to the battery that was fused. Mine are not. Unless you are running a very small wire, I can't see a problem. Somebody I know who is an electrical engineer by trade backs me...

May turn out to be the starter itself. I just rebuilt mine, cost me a twenty for the brush kit. Any halfway mechanic can do it, call a buddy & buy a six-pack.

Buying my first GS, is it a good idea or not?

I am 5'7" on a good day. I ride a GS850. Get something closer to the ground, and a lot lighter. I suggest a good twin cylinder bike 500-600CC at most.

    Cmon man!...474 lbs 110hp but dosn't run 10s?????????????????????????????

At my skill level, my old 82 1100EZ ran pretty much dead even with my buddy's GPZ1100. After proper jetting according to V&H along with their 4-1 pipe, I walked him consistently. We had another kid with a tuned XS1100 that almost matched me. None of these bikes came factory at max potential.

    Maybe it's just me

But I think Suzuki had the worst wiring of the big four. When I work on vintage Yamahas, Hondas, I can usually pull the connectors apart rather easily. Suzukis always seem to be semi fried and fused to the point where you just end up breaking them. My highly qualified mechanic/dealer agrees with me.

    How do these readings look?

ran 13.2 to 13.4 for 4 years before mine gave it up. I put in a 35 dollar stator from fleabay and a used GENUINE R/R SH775 and get 14.4V now. Wire the stator directly to the R/R, 3 wires, add the ground wire, a good one ( I used 12 gauge) and the hot wire, (also 12 gauge) to the hot post on the...
