A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Carb Tuning Article

While rummaging through some old papers, I came across an article from the Jan. 83 Cycle World, "In Search of the Free Lunch". In it, they document the steps they went through, and what the results were. They used a Yamaha Seca 650 and a GS1100E. I scanned the article into a pdf file, which I...

    Square headlight on 83 GS1100E???

Rifle uses inserts for the headlights on the Superbike and Sport fairings, & 8" is one of the options. Not sure, but I think you could even swap out the insert if you found a used one.

Need advise on buying carb sync gauges

I have a similar set that I got from JC Whitney. Works fine; to dampen the needle movement, there are small valves on the lines. You just close them off just enough to restrict the air movement, and the needles settle down. This winter I plan to make a manifold that I can hook it up to in order...

    Square headlight on 83 GS1100E???

Rifle makes fairings for 8" headlights. A little pricey, but quality stuff from everything I've heard. http://http://www.rifle.com/stores/showdetl.cfm?&DID=9&Product_ID=1903&CATID=10&Product=Superbike_Fairing

    Urgent Help needed

Glad to hear the repair went well, and the bike is whole again. It was good to meet you and Steve (Planecrazy) on my trips to Wisconsin. Enjoy the ride next weekend, hope the weather cooperates and stays dry for the weekend.

is it possible to patch carburetor diaphragm?

FYI on the Goop products, they are all the same regardless of the tube they come in. The Seal-All is different, but I wouldn't recommend any of them for this application. They are competitors for some of our products, so I get to test them every few years. The solvents used are very similar to...

    WTF is THIS!??!?!

One of my friends had a Tracy body like that on a 78 GS750. They are definately cool. They hold between 3 and 4 gallons, if I remember right. Dropped the weight by 15-20 pounds, I think. If I were going to build a cafe racer, I would want to put one of those bodies on it.

epoxy in my intake ports.... what kind??

What are you trying to do with it? Epoxy has excellent chemical resistance, so any decent one should work. Just be sure to clean the area very well. Use acetone for the final wipes of the surface and it should be fine.

    Urgent Help needed

I'm going to make it Buffalo Grove this time. I would prefer to be closer to open country (or at least as close as you can get in that area) for the rest of my trip up to Madison on Thursday. I'll be making the same trip next week, plus then I may be able to take my time going home, so stopping...

    Urgent Help needed

Potbelly's sounds good to me. It'll have to be on Thursday. I have to be home by noon on Saturday, so I know I don't want any part of Chicago traffic on a Friday afternoon. Especially since there's a Notre Dame home game on Saturday, which I'm sure will use up most of the motel rooms in Northern...

    Urgent Help needed

Sounds like you have everything lined up & ready to go. Good luck with the repair, I hate to see anyone miss a good ride due to something like this, especially as our riding season in the north starts to wind down.

    Urgent Help needed

It looks like my hardware is unnecessary, but I'd still like to meet up for lunch. Kids don't bother me, so that's not a problem. While the grilling option is very tempting, travel times over 350 miles could make the timing a hassle for either or both of us. Besides, since I'm traveling on...

    Carb Modifications

I would keep them stock. The biggest problem you face with rejetting is that the carbs are old enough that you can't just order parts from Mikuni anymore. That means eBay or aftermarket. I have heard stories of inconsistant QC on aftermarket carb parts. Why open a can of worms for a very small...

    Urgent Help needed

I will be passing through the city heading for Madison, Wi. on Thursday. Depending on traffic and starting time, I will be hitting the Chicago area around noon. I'll be taking Lakeshore Blvd through the city, so I'll probably be in your area between 1 and 2 pm. I can stop in Evanston or Buffalo...

    Urgent Help needed

If you can get heat to the spot without pulling the engine, I would go with the HTS-2000 that Steve recommends. If it looks like it's too tight to do without pulling the engine out of the frame, my suggestion will work without pulling the engine. I have looked at the area on my engine, and I'm...

I wouldn't bother putting anything on new boots. Good luck, hope it goes smoothly.

    Urgent Help needed

Okay, I was talking about the same nut. I was looking at the 1980 diagram; same parts, different numbering. The front corner of the oil pan is less than 3 inches from the hole you made. I just pulled the pan off my engine to have a look. Any metal chips from the hole would have an easy path to...

    Urgent Help needed

I think I know which one you're talking about. Is the nut number 23 on this diagram.http://www.alpha-sports.com/suzuki_parts.htm You may have to pull the engine to do any lasting repair. How big is the hole? I think if it were my bike, I wouldn't just use JB Weld to fill the hole, unless it is...

    hand falling asleep at throttle

The silicone should do the same thing as the barsnake. I've thought about it, just not sure if I want to mess up the handlebars if it doesn't work. Then again, handlebars are only $15-20.

    81 GS1100E Battery light on

The battery light is a level sensor. Unless you have a wire coming out of the middle of your battery top, the sensor isn't connected, and the light will stay on till you disconnect the bulb or it burns out.
