A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Ignition troubles (GS450E) (SOLVED!)

SOLVED: Shut the idle mixture screw all the way and filled my gas tank all the way. There is a low spot in my fuel line which caused a lean sputter once it ran dry which I MISTAKED as leaning out when warming up. To summarize, too rich idle and needle position. hope someone with the same issue...

    Ignition troubles (GS450E) (SOLVED!)

UPDATE nr. 2: I replaced all connectors going to the coils and changed the plugs, tried starting and it made no difference. Then I tried out lowering the needle to the lowest position, lo and behold, it ran perfectly for a while. Then when it got warm enough it started backfiring out the exhaust...

    Ignition troubles (GS450E) (SOLVED!)

Yeah I checked that there is indeed a pulsing ground so atleast the ignitor is working, what worries me is that the coil wires only have a 10,8V potential even though the coil positive is 11,6V to ground. Battery voltage at this time was 12,7V so there must be something going on with these old...

    Ignition troubles (GS450E) (SOLVED!)

UPDATE! I measured some old coils I have and also checked the voltage coming to the coils from the wires and one side is only gettin 0,11V. Is this the CDI:s doing or do I have a contact fault somewhere? I'm assuming the latter since when switching the coils it must've had a brief contact and...

    Ignition troubles (GS450E) (SOLVED!)

Now I'm wondering, are the coils interchangeable with some universal two pin models? As long as the resistance is the same any two pin would work?

    Ignition troubles (GS450E) (SOLVED!)

I suspected the coils from the start since I may have tried welding the coil mounts to the frame while they were bolted on already :ghost:, so they might have gotten a bit toasty. "Both coils primary resistance was 4 - 4.3 Ohms. Their secondaries varied a bit with the faulty one being 17.05...

    Ignition troubles (GS450E) (SOLVED!)

If you're reffering to the part about the intake boot O-rings, I've got that covered. New boots and O-rings already on. I was very careful to check for any air leaks as I've been shamefully naive about it in the past. I'm almost certain the fault is atleast in the ignition since the coughing...

    Ignition troubles (GS450E) (SOLVED!)

Hi! I've just about finished up the bike for the quickly approaching riding season but I've stumbled into some ignition issues. The problem I'm having is one cylinder seems to run considerably worse at low rpm making it almost impossible to set the idle correctly, since when throttle is applied...

    Suzuki GS450E Overcharge

Why does the GS charging system seem to kill R/R so regularly? Is there a specific design choice causing them to fail?

    Suzuki GS450E Overcharge

Ok so big update, I figured out the issue. The previous owner had replaced the regulator with a different six pin model (NSR 40 in sharpie on the back) and had wired the extra black wire straight to ground. I did some research and found out that the black wire is meant to have a 12V input from...

Also what kind of current is the charging system capable of producing at peak output?

    Suzuki GS450E Overcharge

Thank you for all the replies! I'm now wondering if for example I were to install an inline DC to DC regulator after the R/R to properly step down the output voltage, would this be dangerous for the R/R or stator? I'm quite confident in my soldering so making a simple 18V-12V regulator in a...

    Suzuki GS450E Overcharge

Thanks for replying, I actually moved the ground directly to the battery negative and no luck there either. Does a new one have to be the SH775 or would any three phase R/R work, even for just a while?

    Suzuki GS450E Overcharge

Hi! I've recently redid the whole wiring harness and installed full LED lights and a new battery. The issue I'm running into is very high charging voltage at the battery. I measured around 19V at idle with the lights off, 17V with the headlight only since the tail lights weren't plugged in at...

I've yet to weigh this thing but I'm hoping I dropped off a couple of kilos by this point, also installed a hydraulic clutch a few days ago.

My GS 450E Vintage supermoto or something like that

I decided to have a go at building a supermoto on the cheap with this GS 450E I found for cheap some time ago. Full monoshock conversion and some other fun stuff.
