A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    My crash story

Sorry for the loss of your brother. I was lucky, bottom line. I have recovered as much as I'm going to. About 80% of what I used to be. Has taken a long while to learn what I can and cannot do. I still ride and enjoy it as much as before, if not more. I clock about 10,000 miles/year, sometimes...

Slight knocking noise when going over bumps

Did you find the source of the noise? I had a front end noise as well. Mine turned out to be a loose front fender. The rivet holes became egg shaped and it rattled like crazy. But it didn't sound metallic, so I never checked the fender. Yesterday while cleaning a 1000 miles of wet road grime...

    Dunlop D404 Tires

Greetings all, I just got my second set of Dunlop Elite 3's for my 850L. I'm not an overly aggressive rider, but do ride often. My commute to work is only 1.5 miles RT, so most of my riding is recreational. I'm starting my third season on these tires with about 1000 miles so far this year...

    My crash story

Greetings All, Well I went back to work on 4/4. So far so good. I seems the long peroids of standing are not to bad as long as I move around some. I still get a pinch now and again which reminds me to move a little. My biggest complaint so far is sitting, floding metal chairs are the worst...

    My crash story

Greetings all, Just to clarify: I hunt with a great bunch of guys. Since the original accident in '06, they won't let me drag a deer or gut a deer. They do however, let me shoot them:). I do get to buy a few rounds at the local watering hole though, I also return the favor by pushing the...

    My crash story

Greetings all, Well, so far the surgery seems to be a success! after coming out of the anisthesia(sp) and was able to rember my last name, I knew things were better right away. The chronic pain in my back was gone, the numbness in my right leg and foot was also gone, and I was grining:). Keep...

HOw FAr did you ride this summer?

Well, so far this year I've logged just under 10000 on my bike before the speedo stopped working on the way home from Moosehead.(RALLY!) I have another 1200 miles on a borrowed bike and 4 more weeks to rack up a few more miles before surgery :( looks like an 11000 mile year for me. Big plans for...

    My crash story

Greetings All, Just a short update post: As many of you know, I have nagging/chronic back and leg issues since the accident. I had surgery to repair a disc a couple years back. it was successful, but probably not going to last a lifetime. After my return from the Moosehead Rally, where I...

    My 1981 GS650G Thread

Quite the project. Looks great so far. I also would be interested in seeing an Ontario rally. I'm about an hour south of the Peace Bridge. I travel south and east a lot, north would be a nice change. Andy

    K saddlebags on an L

Greetings All, My winter project this year is making a GL/GK. So far I've mounted the trunk hardware and right side bag. More or less a mock up/dry fit if you will and so far so good, the only problem I've run into is That I need to lower the exhaust about an inch. My system is not stock to...

Anyone around Colorado have oxy/acetylene welding equipment?

Trying not to be too negitive but, it may be easier to replace the tank with a decent used one. Brazing a gas tank will work(I've done it) although not on a bike. I'm not sure what the melting point of the silver solder is, in the event of a bike fire, one of the 1st things to melt(after the...

    Rear Caliper Powdercoat - Masking?

I, as most of the members are DIYers. I did my own powdercoating for my bike more or less for practice. I did the rear caliper and front master cylinder. I can't remember the exact process, but I totally dismantled the parts and bead blasted them, masked or plugged everything I thought that...

    another clutch problem

I had this same problem last year, do a search and the responces should show up. Briefly, I removed the fibers and steels, soaked the fibers in clean oil, scuffed the steels with scotch-brite, changed the oil and adjusted the clutch arm(small adlustment=big difference) I also found the shifting...

    Favorite Tank Bag?

I got a new Joe Rocket "Hammerhead" magnetic bag this spring and it work very well. It fits my bike nice and doesn't move around. It's not a large bag, but hold plenty of small items(maps, wallet, glasses etc)also has a clear pouch for a GPS and cell phone. I think it was only about $55. Andy

    Wiring info

Over the winter I am going to do some more tinkering on the bike. I had thought about replacing the wiring harness, but it only has a few bad spots in it. Does anyone know where I can get replacement wire by the foot? I think I can replace the bad sections from end to end. If I counted right...
