DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Always expect the worst, never disappointed?

My Fluke 1587 megger/multi meter goes to 1000 vdc, tested stator at 500 vdc for 60 seconds. When I get the time, I still plan on installing a quality new stator, even though the bike just turned over to 10,000 miles today on my test ride. I have owned the bike for 4 years now, bought the bike at...

Always expect the worst, never disappointed?

Finished installing the new R/R today. Did some checking with my meter, both the stator and system voltages. The stator measured ok, 80.9 ohms on all three legs, and about 300k-500k for each leg to engine case ground. So, looked ok, finished the install and took some voltage readings before a...

Always expect the worst, never disappointed?

Yes, I agree on crimped connectors. Use good quality crimp connectors, good quality crimpers made for what your crimping ( insulated or non insulated), and always try to use heat shrink over the crimp. I use crimped connectors at work all the time, in a marine environment, and the biggest thing...

Always expect the worst, never disappointed?

Just a FYI post.... was installing a new voltage regulator/rectifier on my low mile 1982, and what I thought was unmolested, GS1100e. Just wanted to get a leg up on the electrical system, as I know it's not an if or maybe on the charging system going bad, it just will. Ordered up a series type...

    Just finished my 82' GS1100E resto-mod.

Very nicely put together bike. Looks perfect in my book.... Have you put it on a dyno, check the AF/R under load, and to see what the HP is? I have a 1982 GS1100e also, in red/maroon. Stock with a few bolt ones. Has the exact same carbs as yours, picked them up NOS a few years ago, and my...

How can I post pictures from my IPhone 8 Plus.

Have not been able to copy and paste and post pictures to main text box ever since I started using an IPhone about 2 yeas ago. I used to be able to just go to my photos file folder, hit copy and then hit paste to the main text body like this one. I used to use a Samsung Android type phone for...

My new 1983 GS1100e I just bought today

So were those pictures of the front brakes what you were looking for? They seem to work just fine. Way, way better than stock 1983 brakes. You can lock the fronts at 60-80 mph if you want. The 1983 brakes in comparison, are more Fred Flintstone, scream your best Yabba Dabba Doo! and drag your...

My new 1983 GS1100e I just bought today

So Rick, how do you insert the pictures into the body of the text? I thought I used to be able to do that on here with a simple copy and paste. I try that now, and it shows the picture just fine in the dialog or text box like right here, but when I hit the "post quick reply" button it disappears.

The black 1983 is my newest addition. I guess at this point I need a dark blue, champagne gold, and blue/white ES?

My new 1983 GS1100e I just bought today

Hmm, let me see if I can get this to work.... Nope, it will not let me copy and paste full size pics even if I pre shrink them to say 200k-400k. The only thing it will let me do is use the forum "add picture" button, and only one picture at a time. Then when it's uploaded to the forum site...

My new 1983 GS1100e I just bought today

I think it was a good bargain..... mostly because I know exactly how much work or time the guy put into it....I wish I had that kind of time right now, but don't. Right now for me time is worth more than money, hope to get that switched around later this year or next spring, after we sell the...
