I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

Some one should post a thread containing "Dealer Nightmare Stories" I bought a GS550E from a dealership that only carries Suzuki. They said it needed all 8 valves replaced. I paid next to nothing for it and its in damn close to perfect shape. I threw a compression tester on all 4 and...

    Carbs: Cv's vs. Vm's

First, thank you all for your replies and comments and keep them coming! I don't really have to be in gear for this to happen. Idling in the driveway from 2200 to 3300 will produce the feeling of vibration and a feeling almost like the engine suddenly went out of tune. Sound changes a...

    Carbs: Cv's vs. Vm's

I made an interesting observation over the last week and wanted to share and hear other opinions on the subject. Background: I own an 82 GS850G with the CV carbs. I have done all the cleaning, dipping, colortuneing and o ring replacement on my carbs and have done the valves and several synchs...

how do you guys get yours so clean???

I second the simple green on the engine. The key is few misc. brushes and patience. I start at the carwash using the wand type and the engine/tire cleraning solution. Spray everything but the guages down with that and then rinse. I then move to the driveway and the Simple green with a...

Special tools to do a valve job on a 1982 GS850??

Did my 850 last night. 2 hours from start to finish. Two beers made me slower, but my mood was improved. Take your time and you will find it is not something to shy away from. The reward is my idle, which I thought was good is now excellent. Valves are definatly a must do for our bikes...

Roadtest for 82 850g anyone have a copy?

BassCliff, Suzuki Cycles.org has the height, width, horsepower ect. but anything like you mentioned, rpm in gears, top speed as tested, 1/4 mile time all that. I haven't been able to find anybody with a magazine from that era and would love to have a copy of what you have. Thank you for the...

actually two questions, 1.) Anyone have road test numbers like 1/4 mile times and or other performance info for a 1982 850G? I searched and didn't come up with anything. I have seen refrences to road tests for other bikes but nothing for the 850. I need bragging backup in print! 2.) Is...

How accurate does carb air screw have to be?

I have used sevral different methods on my 850G to adjust the carb air/fuel screws and you will find that, even with the help of a Colortune, nothing will be exact. Basically you get them as close as possible and then do your carb sync. I believe that the sync. accuracy is more...

    Pics of my 850G

Frosty is safe. My daughters found out that sidewalk chalk, when crushed and mixed with water makes a wonderful paste that you can spread on just about anything. You think the driveway looked bad, you should have seen our black Lab. The girls told us they made the dog into a zebra :D The...

First look at the finished cafe gs550E

I really like your work. The style is awesome. I was just putting together a Radio Flyer tricycle for my 3 year old today and looking at the paint scheme and thinking red and white would look cool on a bike as long as the styling could match it. You pulled it off well. What did you paint the...

    "Red" sparkplug tips?

Check the tank for rust. Also unscrew a carb bowl drain bolt and see what comes out of the drain. I would guess there is some ultra fine rust particles from the tank getting into the carbs. Happened to me

    Manometer Question need help

I was just out for a ride and the bike is smoother. It is probably 10-15 degrees cooler now and the acceleration is now where I think it should be. My real concern was that 2 and 3 were too far under 1 and 4 but I think I'm okay. I might hook it all up one more time this weekend just to play...
