I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

1100G Buzziness Just me and what to do.

I have a new to me 1982 1100g that is in great condition. I'm working through the "normal" GS issues, like changing all the fluid and doing the valves ect. I did a carb synch and I have all the running issues resolved. Very nice idle and pulls without hesitation all the way to the top. BTW...

    Front brakes 1981 GS850G

I just rebuilt a master cylinder on my 1100G. I had somewhat of the same problem. First of all make sure your banjo connections all have the proper washers attached. Basically a washer needs to be on each side of the banjo fitting. Even if you have some air in the lines the pistons should...

    handlebars

Is there anything between the stock bars and the Daytona bars. I have Daytona's on my 1100G and had them on my 850G. I like them but me thinks I would be a tad more comfortable with a set that was somewhere in between (a little more rise and a little more pullback). I had a guy who rides a...

This is why I wear a face shield

I was riding a nice set of twisties over the weekend, beautiful Sunday morning and the 850 was purring. I threw her into a corner and was just about to bring her back up and take the line into the other when I see the dreaded Guinea Hen sitting in the middle of the ****ing road. Was not going...

    Hanging idle after repairs

You might have an air leak as others have said. How is the airfilter and is the airbox sealed up tight. I fought this same problem and the cover to my airbox was leaking. Used stick on marine grade weatherstrip ffrom the hardware store and now runs like a dream. Adjusting the mixture screws...

    850 possible bad ignition switch?????

Anyone have a procedure (that kind of sounds like I'm talking to Nasa) for removing the ingnition switch? I have the cover pulled from the idiot lights and I see two allen head screws that need to come off. How does the switch itself come apart? Does the black cover surrounding the piece that...

    850 possible bad ignition switch?????

82 850G This bike has run wonderfully for the longest time.... Until a couple of nights ago, then it left me stranded.:( History; The wiring on this bike is factory, the only person that made any changes was me and that was for the coil relay mod. The night before this happened I took a...

Slipping or jumping close to redline?

I don't mean to hijack this in any way but I had the same problem with my 850. I replaced 3 of the 6 clutch springs (because six made it feel like I needed two hands to pull the lever) and this cured the problem partially. I thought this scenario was all due to weakend clutch springs, not so...

nagging small oil leak advice please!!!!

I appreciate the replies. I will check again tonight as to exactly where it is coming from. I did the check a while (month) ago after cleaning that are very well. I hope the case isn't damaged . Yes the bolt is tight. I snugged it up but didn't go overboard. It wasn't very loose...

nagging small oil leak advice please!!!!

99.9% positive, I have used simple green and pressure washed the area to clean it very well to help identify the leak. Did I mention I like a clean bike. Some might say I'm a bit obsesive but it makes diagnosing things like this little leak much easier. Jim

nagging small oil leak advice please!!!!

1982 850G I have a very small oil leak coming from around a bolt below the stator cover. (bottom side of engine). The bolt is towards the front of the motor where the number one header pipe comes down. The bolt has a #12 stamped in the engine case right next to it. The bolt is situated in a...

    Flyscreen for GS1100

I currently have a Vetter Quicksilver fairing on the bike (GS850G), which I am getting ready to restore, but I previosly had a Spitfire in smoke which I really like and will use in place of my Quicksilver. The bottom line is the Spitfire helps a little when it comes to deflecting bugs and also...

    Front suspension expiriment results

Is this done with spacer that is supposed to go with the progressive springs? I have prevously done everything to the forks with the bike on the centerstand. For everyone's reference here, I am just fine tuning what I think is already a pretty good ride. I know many of us want to replace...

    Front suspension expiriment results

I measured the level by cc using a large syringe. I didn't think about the positioning of the bike. When I first did it the bike was on the centerstand. The times I measured after the bike was on the side stand. I will drain the mix and go with a 15wt fork oil and see what happens. I guess...
