DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    Banjo Bolt Pressure Switches

I was having a great run with my banjo bolt pressure switches both front and back but now they appear not to operate without significant brake pressure. With the HEL steel lines I am running I don't require much pressure to achieve braking effect. Is there any way I can have the brake light...

    1980 gs 1000 no power

Look at the basics first - spark, air and fuel. I would start at the battery and check for loose leads/bad connections. Your bike loves a fully charged battery - start with a known base line and work forward from there.

New GS1100 G Restoration Project. Rebuilding my Dad's bike

I had to do the same treatment on my GS1000G. A friend of mine has an engineering business and all the heavy equipment available. He started out using a blow torch to heat up the bearing. Progressed to a very heavy cold chisel and hammer and eventually cut off as you did with an angle...

    GS1000G back to stock exhaust

After 30 years I am returning my bike to stock exhaust. I am looking for recommendations regarding exhaust gaskets. Do I go with OEM Suzuki parts or consider the following options. Wemoto in the UK has both copper and aluminium fibre gaskets: or or Z1 Enterprises has Advice and...

Am I up to the challenge - 1980 GS850G (picture)

The bike started at $550 on Aussie EBay and went for the 1 and only bid. The seller posted he had 100 watching. I was interested but not at that price. Pick up costs would have been a four hour round trip and $50 for fuel. I have a spare 4 into 1 exhaust and various other bits from my...

Am I up to the challenge - 1980 GS850G (picture)

Dogma and Rustybronco, Good observations. Yes, it is relatively complete if not original. The big issues are the "unknowns" that may have been committed in the name of POs. No history available - so all the lack of maintenance issues. Stripped threads, surgery on the wiring harness all could...

Am I up to the challenge - 1980 GS850G (picture)

The bike appears to be relatively complete although the exhaust (or what is left of it) is toast. Suface rust everywhere rending the fork tubes useless. All rubbers and bearings would need to be replaced. Instruments do not appear original - has proably been down the road at some time -...

    Which r/r for 850G?

Five years ago I replaced my R/R with the SH650A 12. Appears to work perfectly. Added a new wet cell battery at the same time and both are doing well. Ride with my headlight on at all times. Apparently the SH650A 12 comes from a Kawasaki ZX6R from the 90s. Also Yamaha FZ6R used them.

83 GS1100 Dies for no reason

There is a reason you just need to find it. A bad connection short or similar is most likely. Lack of regular maintenance by previous owners! You need to make your way along the wiring harness from the battery and check every connection and switch.
