A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    78 GS 750 Rebuild

I'll try that. I had planned on just skim coating everything from the start, but it makes sense to tackle the trouble spots with one coat then another all over. I definitely understand what Pete was talking about at one point in his Kat thread about leaving paint for last. Since I'm so close to...

    78 GS 750 Rebuild

...oh well. Onwards and upwards. Either way, the coating looks good inside. I sanded the outside a bit with a block to see what I'm dealing with. Looks like there are a quite a lot of low spots and dings in addition to the dents and dings I know and love, and am intimitely familiar with after...

    78 GS 750 Rebuild

So I got my tank back from the radiator shop yesterday... Not 100% pleased. Their website showed that they were a Gas Tank Renu place, which had great reviews online. Their website shows a red interior coating. What I got back is white, which makes me think Kreem... They also didn't...

For those with pods - what to do with breather hose?

Thanks guys. So a PCV valve would need a vacuum to operate then, and the pressure coming out of the engine wouldn't be enough to open the valve. Earlier in this thread some folks split the hose off the breather cover and routed to each carb to avoid the unbalanced airflow issue Steve...

    Delkevic

Nope, but I put one on my 2v 750... Looks awesome, but I haven't fired it up yet. Still need to do a few things to get to that point. Just pull the trigger on it. You know you want it. :eagerness:

For those with pods - what to do with breather hose?

Thanks for the explanation and the quick response, ben2go. Would there be any benefit to a PCV valve, or would a simple catch can suffice when going from airbox to pods? If you do use a one way valve, do you have to hook it into the intake somehow or are folks just doing that so they don't get...

For those with pods - what to do with breather hose?

Resurrecting this thread, as I'm a bit confused. There's a lot of talk about the breather vent, and a "crankcase vent" as if they're two different things. Is there some kind of vent from the crankcase that I don't know about, or when people say crankcase vent are they actually talking about the...

Goin' German and Italian for a change

What was the plastic filler you used? I'm about to paint my first tank, and have a lot of questions...mainly around what products to use for prep. My knowledge goes as far as Bondo, but I know there are a lot of more modern products out there...

    78 GS 750 Rebuild

I found that out after a bit of wasted effort, Pete. I was able to get some smaller plastic pieces looking pretty good with plastic polish, but these were too big and too far gone I think. I look at everything like this that I have to paint as practice for when I paint the tank, side covers...

    78 GS 750 Rebuild

320 sandpaper, a couple coats of primer, a wet sand, and a couple coats of semi gloss black later. Not perfect, but much better than they were... I was bound and determined to keep them as bare plastic, and just get the gouges out and polish them. I was thinking it would be much easier to...

    78 GS 750 Rebuild

...in other news, I made a mess of my inner fenders and chain guard trying to get some deep scratches and gouges out. The gouges and scratches are out. Now I need to get the sandpaper marks out. Right now, I'm thinking they weren't so bad how they were...

    78 GS 750 Rebuild

So I got the seat pan and a few other bits powder coated, and dropped the seat off to get a cover made. I love to do everything myself, but I'd rather spend my time wrenching (and hopefully riding soon) than learning how to use a sewing machine lol. Most aftermarket seat covers I found weren't...

Hi All! Signing on from Jersey

That T looks decent... The issues it has don't sound like any deal breakers, but could bring your price down a bit. Welcome, and I 2nd what dorkburger said... riding in Newark would be rough to learn. Head a bit west to where it's not so crwded.
