A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

    clutch with no friction zone

I've got the same issue with my GS450, and the worm gear is properly adjusted. I had the clutch cover off before, the fibers didn't look very good to me but I was wanting to ride after doing so much work to it. I did put new EBC clutch springs in. I have some new fibers, just need to install...

    1982 GS400E running on 1 cylinder

That relay didn't have two 87 outputs...it had an 87 (Normally Open) output and an 87a (Normally Closed) output. Take a closer look or perhaps it was mislabeled.

Wont start, has spark, getting fuel ???

When you reset the timing, are you referring to ignition timing or valve timing (chain)? If you're off by one tooth it can make a considerable difference in compression. If you don't have compression, it won't pull air/gas through the carbs. Have you checked the clearance on the valves...

    Stuck exhaust bolts

Center punch center and drill it out. Even if it isn't quite centered, once you get near the threads, it should turn out easily...ask me how I know. Welding a nut worked for one of my bolts, but the others just didn't want to budge.

Need help. Just replaced chain and now too much side to side slack

The washer is supposed to be bent over opposing flats on the nut...safety reasons. According to the JT Sprocket site, those are the correct sprockets for your bike and the correct chain, 530-114 links. I have the same brand chain (purchased from Amazon.com), and haven't had this issue. Same...

    1982 GS450TZ - stalls when hot

Got the oscilloscope out and hooked it up to the signal generator coils, made sure everything was good there. No loss in signal, so those checked out good. Then hooked it up to the coil outputs of the igniter. The left coil output stayed strong and steady, but the right coil output started to...

    1982 GS450TZ - stalls when hot

Got some used coils off of eBay. Installed both of them, started it up and left it running. Got my gear and was walking up to the motorcycle and it stalled out. Checked the signal generator, both coils ohmed out to be good. Pulled the plugs out, left side keeps sparking, but the right side...

81' gs450sx timing question ( light vehicle mechanic now playing with bikes)

I had to play with mine a little bit. At first I had the #1 arrow slightly above the gasket surface, 130psi on both cylinders. Then I moved it one tooth (keeping the 18 teeth spacing) and the #1 arrow was below the gasket surface, 170psi both cylinders. If I remember correctly, the Clymer's...

Stripped exhaust bolt, very messy attempt

Try welding on the bolt and building it up so it sticks out. You can try welding a nut onto that, but I've had better luck using vise grips on said weld.
