    Tranny/Shifting problem

I can't seem to feel the clutch disengage at all. I have tried to do it manually to no avail. What is the range of motion for the arm/shaft? Mine only moves about 45 degrees, maybe less. I'm just guessing.

    Tranny/Shifting problem

It feels like all freeplay. A little restance from the cable itself, really no more. It feels like the shaft is just sliding back and forth and not doing anything.

    Tranny/Shifting problem

OK guys, getting desprate now. Installed new clutch cable, looks good still have the same problem. I guess the pressure plate is not disengaging. Is it possible to assemble the clutch cover and not have the pinion gear and splines lined up? Is there a spring or something that goes into the...

    Tranny/Shifting problem

My cable is in, I'll pick it up in the morning. I removed the old one and there was no adjustment in the middle. Possibly the wrong cable? I'll know more after I get the new one. Andy

    Tranny/Shifting problem

The splines seem to be lined up when I replace the cover. It also seems like the cover would not go on if they wern't lined up. Or can it? I did reposition the arm like yours. I also totally forgot about the adjustment in the middle of the cable. I will look at that in the morning and would be...

    Tranny/Shifting problem

SqDL, I noticed what you said, and tried it then as now and it still doesn't friggin' run in gear with the clutch depressed:mad:. I think the only option now is to replace the clutch cable. Probably should have done that to start with, but it appars to be in good shape. It does seem long...

    Tranny/Shifting problem

If I understand this right, the arm on the left needs to be higher?Put that gear in the 1 o'clock position and the upper edge will finish it's stroke at the 11 o'clock position. Thanks. Andy P.S. I'm not trying to sound like an idiot, but I don't want to have to take it apart many more...

    Tranny/Shifting problem

Will give that a try. Am going to remove the clutch assembly and take pictures of the shifting fork and internals to post and get your opinions. Im thinking the shift fork might still be off by a notch or 2. I think the problem is real close to being solved(at least I hope so). Thanks for all...

    Tranny/Shifting problem

TCK- Right now everything is assembled. If I have to take it apart again Iwill get some pictures. If it will help I can take some pictures of it as it is now, maybe you can tell if the arm is misplace from that. I did compare the position to the position of an arm on a 650L(my next project)...

    Tranny/Shifting problem

With the steels & fibers removed the inner hub spins like a top! I can't be 100% sure, due to the fact that I never pulled the clutch apart before, but the whole assembly went back together as it was taken apart. No parts bound up or were forced back into position. The whole process seemed quite...

    Tranny/Shifting problem

Well, every thing is back together. I also swaped the carbs for a better set. No fine tuning has been done yet, but she is running real smooth:). The problem still remains. I can shift thru all gears without problem. I still however, release the clutch without the bike lurching and stalling. I...

Clutch hub nut removal -- any suggestions?

I just had to remove my clutch hub as well. I found a32mm socket at a local hardware store for $6.00(impact no less) did't have to buy the whole set either. I used a 5/16" box end wrench to hold the hub while removing the retaining nut. I put a clutch spring bolt thru the box end into the hub...

    Tranny/Shifting problem

OK, I fianlly got a chance to pull the whole clutch assembly. I think I solved the problem, but would like some input before I re-assemble the whole thing. 1st off, after pulling the clutch assy, everything looked ok. I looked in the manual and tried to compare pictures of the inner workings...

    Tranny/Shifting problem

Aside from 1st gear, it feels like nothings there. Everything is on the low to mid end, but all within spec. Will attempt to hand shift, but plan on pulling the clutch hub and check the shift fork. My computer is down. Have to use my fathers, which is a pain in the a--!Will post the...
