A Special Note about Email accounts!
DO NOT SIGN UP USING hotmail, outlook, gmx, sbcglobal, att, bellsouth or email.com. They delete our forum signup emails.

A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

  • Returning Visitors

If you are a returning visitor who never received your confirmation email, then odds are your email provider is blockinig emails from our server. The only thing that can be done to get around this is you will have to try creating another forum account using an email address from another domain.

If you are a returning visitor to the forum and can't log in using your old forum name and password but used to be able to then chances are your account is deleted. Purges of the databases are done regularly. You will have to create a new forum account and you should be all set.

Schweeet Jeeesus... Sidi Vertigo Corsa boots.

Ahh, we sold Lakes at my shop... they were also very nice shoes. I sold a lot more of them since they were so much cheaper, but also very nice shoes. I successfully jacked this thead. Sorry!

Schweeet Jeeesus... Sidi Vertigo Corsa boots.

When I was actually in shape and racing cross country mtn. bikes I used exclusively Sidi mtn bike shoes. They are a thing of pure beauty, and lasted 3 times the as long as anything else I ever used.

Easy way to remove bugs from your vehicle

For just a small area I find not much works better than just wetting a towel and draping it over the area for about 10 minutes. Then the bugs wipe up as easy as the water itself.

    New paintjob, needing future ideas!

    Quebec and the Gaspe Peninsula

Nice! Thanks for the write up. Really hope to do that trip sometime soon.

Changing tires - what do you use to keep the bike upright?

I put it on the centerstand, then use a ratchet strap to hang the front end from an LVL in the shop.

    Longest trip?

You should see the looks I get in NH when I'm in the woods on my FZ1! The class VI roads do not scare me.

Digital Torque Wrench w/case $99 shipped

I have very pricey torque wrenches in both 3/8" and 1/2" drives. I've never had them calibrated and whats more... I don't even use them anymore. :-#

    Longest trip?

Oh man, I'm severely jelious. That is such a great trip. Make sure to allot an entire day (or two even) to explore all of Cape Bretton National Park. Not just the Cabot Trail, but all the off shoots to the fishing villages etc. I have to get back up there sometime!

    Longest trip?

Definitely the craziest was leaving the GS rally in Fayetteville, WV at 6am, in the rain, and arriving home that evening in NH at 8:30. That was 912 miles in 14.5 hours for an average speed of 62.9 mph... with 7 gasoline stops. Let's just say that PA was all but a blur and for the next...

    Is this "surge" scenario common?

Do you have an inline fuel filter installed?

    Iron Butt

I did however, see a food network segment on this guy in Buffalo, and I really considered a ride to eat there... (what I will do for food): http://www.charliethebutcher.com/ Maybe you can bring me back a beef on weck?

    Iron Butt

Not 1000, but I totalled 912 miles from Fayetteville WV to my house here in NH in about 15 hours. Left the rally at 6am on Sunday, was home by 8:30 or so. Two words... NEVER. AGAIN.

    Craigslist "funnies"

Guy doesn't know his head from his a$$... says valves should be adjusted every 4000 miles on this bike... and he just did the clearances and adjusted them too wide?? WTF

    DOT Mirrors?

A little advice to anyone with non-DOT turn signals, mirrors, headlight, etc... become a good customer and friend of your local custom chopper shop. Those guys will pass pretty much anything. I get my bike insepcted at one of those places, have since 2002. Funny thing though, my bike has never...

You're all correct, local shops/waste of money.

It's lunacy to own these old bikes unless you are working on them yourself. I'd suggest getting a newer bike if you either don't want to wrench or plan on having a shop do your routine maintainence. Like you said, even if you screw it up, your better off. You know why? Becasue 1- you didn't pay...

Ohio to Seattle - if you could?

Some years ago, GS member pano and I did somewhere near 2500 miles in the course of a long July 4th weekend. Rode to Nova Scotia and the Cabot Trail. Do yourself a favor and in the planning of the ride, make sure you account for some down time. Even if you can handle the physical stress, the...
