A note to old forum members...
I receive numerous requests from people who can no longer log in because their accounts were deleted. As mentioned in the forum FAQ, user accounts are deleted if you haven't logged in for the past 6 months. If you can't log in, then create a new forum account. If you don't get an error message, then check your email account for an activation message. If you get a message stating that the email address is already in use, then your account still exists so follow the instructions in the forum FAQ for resetting your password.

Have you forgotten your password or have a new email address? Then read the forum FAQ for details on how to reset it.

Any email requests for "can't log in anymore" problems or "lost my password" problems will be deleted. Read the forum FAQ and follow the instructions there - that's what we have one for...

    Riding Game

Well, we work in kilometres here and I am pretty sure I can won't find anything without a 0 or a 5. Been looking for the last few days with no luck and I can't remember ever seeing any. So here's the deal, Rick, I can match your 3m/hr with a 5km/hr, which is actually 3.1m/hr. Let me know if...

To a landlubber they might ;) But I agree that it is a fair tag. The idea is to get us out on our bikes, right?

    Riding Game

Hey, don't know the fine print in the rules but I'm thinking it needs to be either a number of boats together or if a single it needs to have a stick for a sail:) How does that sound.

New tag - Yacht on at trailer New tag - Yacht on at trailer So, in another thread, in the Campfire area, we have been talking about small sailboats. I decided to swing by the marina and check out what boats were there. Found this small group of trailer keel boats. May be a little hard for...

I have been beaten at posting a few photos in the past but now finally looks like I am getting one up before anyone else. Here's the car park sign for "Lilliputt Mini Golf " (got love that pun)...

Mysterious Fork Leak - Any Ideas Please

Thanks Greg, Good tips esp about tightening the spring - might have a go at that. Seem to remember having trouble finding a "fork" oil at one point and don't remember what I used. I used the last of what I had last time and stupidly didn't keep the bottle as a sample. Are you saying to use all...

Mysterious Fork Leak - Any Ideas Please

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have said that :o. It is true that the book says not to use a compressor but my compressor has a good regulator which can be set to the required 80kpa and I have checked the calibration of the gauge on occasion. I find it a good way to get evenness and accuracy - it is...

Mysterious Fork Leak - Any Ideas Please

Mr Bill Thanks for the input Nope (unless we are not using the same terminology here) no bushings. As far as I can tell from the diagrams and what I see in my spare set of forks the slider tube slides directly in the fork leg - no bush. There is quite a large bearing surface and lots of oil...

Mysterious Fork Leak - Any Ideas Please

Thanks Hillsy I see where you are coming from. There is no bush in my tubes. I have looked at diagrams in my manual and see what you mean in one of the later model set ups. I won't rule out that there is wear and it gives sufficent lateral movemet to elongate the seal but I have just been out...

Mysterious Fork Leak - Any Ideas Please

Since I completely rebuilt my 78 GS1000 about 6 years ago I have had to replace a fork seal on 2 or 3 occasions. The seals have spontaneously started leaking oil for no apparent reason at random intervals. I have ruled out the obvious suspects. The inner tube chrome is in good condition ? the...

Phosphoric acid tank rust removal, coating required afterwards?

What he said. The POR15 has worked pretty well for me. It can be bought as a fuel tank repair kit and it is important to follow the instructions.

Great Game Great Game Hi Guys n Gals I just found out about this thread and this games seems like fun. (Ironically, it was the lame OT thread about Eric which whet my curiosity). It looks to me like the more players the better, right?. I reckon a bit of promotion in the forums would be a good...

    A skunk in the works

I got my decals and pin striping from a vinyl letter cutting place. They did some sign writing on one of my cars for me so I figured the materials they use would be suitable for the bike. I sent them a scan of the decal and they cut it in white vinyl and for the pin stripes they just cut me 3mm...

    Fork Seal Leaking............again

Thanks, will try that trick. The seal seemed the right size and was from the local dealer so I think it is right. There is no scoring on the tube so I guess I can't rule out that I did damage it when installing. If the trick with the film doesn't work I am going to have to replace it again so...

    Fork Seal Leaking............again

Doesn't dive much or bottom out and no pitting or scoring. As far as I can tell even if the fork is bottomed out the seal would still be on clean smooth tube. Does excessive fork movement cause increased oil pressure on the seal ?. It has seemed odd to me that the forks continue to push oil out...

    Fork Seal Leaking............again

After my rebuild was completed at the end of 2010 my forks didn't loose a drop for about a year. Then one side started leaking, and I don,t mean just a little bit. The oil was coming out and running down the staunchans at quite a rate. Happened fast - went from no oil to lots - didn't seem to...

    1978 gs1000

Hey Loki, Just picked up on this thread (not sure how I missed seeing it before). Congratulations on the way your rebuild is shaping up - you put my workmanship to shame. I ended up cutting a few corners to get mine finished. Did you settle on the red paint scheme ? Mine was originally that...

    voltage monitoring ?

After having stator/RR problems a few months back I tracked down a small digital volt meter (I'm colour blind so those red/orange/green led systems are usless to me). I wired in to the main power circuit inside the headlight bucket and for now it is attached to the top of the instrument cluster...

I would agree with you, GT250/380/550, something of that era, maybe even from a T. As I recall they all had the chrome strip around the bottom and the grab handle.
